Maharashtra Tourism Minister & MoS unveil new logo & feedback QR Code of MTDC:

  • Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray and Minister of State Aditi Tatkare unveiled a new logo and new feedback QR code of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). They unveiled the logo of Boat Club in Nashik.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed with Airbnb, an online marketplace company, to boost tourism in the state.

  • Maharashtra will observe the National Unity Week from 19th to 25th of November.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to use vibration absorbing tracks on Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 corridor:

  • In a first for India Mumbai Metro Rail Corp Limited to lay vibration-absorbing tracks on Metro Line-3.
  • The corporation started trial production of High Vibration Attenuation Booted Twin Sleeper Blocks to lay tracks with the help of a machine from Switzerland.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will co-chair the 17th ASEAN-India Summit along with Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The leaders of all 10 ASEAN Member States will virtually participate in the Summit. 

 

  • The Summit will review the status of ASEAN-India Strategic Partnership and take stock of progress made in key areas such as connectivity, maritime cooperation, trade and commerce, education and capacity building.

  • International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) approved draft banking regulations for banking operations at IFSCs.

 

  • Banking constitutes one of the major focus areas of IFSCs (International Financial Services Centres) and is expected to drive and facilitate the other constituent operations in IFSCs in due course, IFSCA stated. It paves way for rules for various aspects of banking operations.

 

HDFC Bank launches ‘Smart-Hub Merchant Solutions 3.0’:

  • HDFC Bank has announced the launch of India’s first comprehensive banking and payment solution for merchants SmartHub Merchant Solutions 3.0. This first-of-its-kind solution allows merchants and self-employed professionals to instantly open a current account and start accepting payments in-store, online, and on-the-go.

 

  • The merchant solution was launched at a virtual event held in Mumbai by Parag Rao, Country Head – Payments, Consumer Finance, Marketing and Digital Banking at HDFC Bank along with T R Ramachandran, Group Country Manager, India and South Asia, Visa.

 

Paytm launches “Payout Links” For Small Businesses Instant Transfer Money:

 

  • Paytm has launched “Payout Links” for businesses, enabling them to instantly process payouts to customers, employees and vendors, without collecting their bank details. It is aimed at helping small businesses in sectors like gaming, retail, export, manufacturing and e-commerce.

 

  • Payout Links will allow businesses to send ‘incentives’ or refunds to the customers’ bank accounts or wallet accounts. It can be used for salary payments, vendor payments, commissions and incentive transfers to be done instantly.

SEBI Setup a 7 Member Expert Group Chaired by Sandip Bhagat to Review the Share Based Employee Benefits:

  • Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), set up a 7-member expert group chaired by Sandip Bhagat, partner at S&R Associates to review the frameworks of the share based employee benefits & issue of sweat equity and recommend policy changes.
  • The expert group will revisit the framework of the sweat equity regulations against the companies act and suggest required policy changes.

  • Emporis Skyscraper Award, one of the world’s most renowned prizes for high-rise architecture, has been given to a 462-metre-high Lakhta Center in St Petersburg this year.
  • This marks the first time that the prestigious award has gone to a project in Russia in the 20-year-long history of the award. The skyscraper which has been, designed by GORPROJECT and RMJM, is not only the tallest building in Russia but is the tallest building in entire Europe and the fourteenth tallest building in the world.

India Ranked 196th in BMI Ranking 2019 report by Lancet: Netherlands Tops:

  • BMI (Body Mass Index) of various countries’ teenagers has been recently published in the international medical journal “The Lancet”, according to which India is placed at 196th rank with respect to BMI.

 

  • India’s 19-year-old boys and girls have a BMI of 20.1 means they are also among the shortest in the world. India’s boys ranked 180th with an average height of 5.46 feet while girls ranked 182nd with an average height of 5.06 feet.

 

  • Netherlands is the nation with the tallest boys and girls of age 19 years. It is followed by Montenegro, Estonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina for boys; and Montenegro, Denmark, and Iceland for girls.

CBIC mandates GST E-invoicing for business turnover exceeds Rs. 100 Crores from January 1, 2021:

 

  • Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) mandated GST E-invoicing from January 1, 2021 if turnover exceeds Rs. 100 Crores. The Board notified that E-invoicing is mandatory from January 1, 2021 for every taxpayer other than SEZ (Special economic zone) unit whose aggregate turnover in any of the Financial Year from 2017-18 exceeds Rs. 100 Crores.

 

  • Under Goods and Services Tax (GST) law current regime, e-invoicing for Business-To-Business (B2B) transactions is mandatory for companies with turnover of over Rs 500 crore.

PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Office-Cum-Residential Complex of ITAT’s Cuttack Bench, Odisha:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Office-cum-residential complex of Cuttack bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) via video conferencing.
  • This bench will also provide services to Northeast and East India as it will help the Kolkata bench (West Bengal) in meeting the pending appeal. It should be noted that the Cuttack Bench of the ITAT was created and started functioning in 1970, and its jurisdiction extends to the whole of Odisha.

  • This will also provide technical support, information on availability of saplings, marketing facilities, pest control measures, incentives and schemes provided for sandalwood growers by the government.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announces relief package ‘Atmanirbhar 3.0’:

 

  • Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced 12 new measures under the new “Aatmanirbhar Bharat 3.0” stimulus package worth Rs 2.65 lakh crore to boost the Indian economy amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. FM also announced ₹900 crore research and development grant for Covid-19 vaccine development

 

  • Cabinet approved Rs 2 lakh crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for 10 sectors including advance chemistry cell batteries, electronic and technology products, automobiles and auto components manufacturing, among others.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan to release roadmap of Atma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh:

  • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will release a roadmap-2023 of Atma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh at a programme to be organized at Minto Hall (Old Vidhan Sabha Bhavan). Member of Parliament Vishnudutt Sharma and CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant will also participate in the programme.

Second World Health Expo Organised in Wuhan, China:

  • 2nd Edition of World Health Expo has been organised in Wuhan city of Central China’s Hubei. The Expo will focus on displaying the most cutting-edge science and technology in the global health industry, and will help Wuhan to develop as “City of Global Health Industry”.
  • The exhibition area in the Expo covers an area of 150,000 square meters. It has 12 special venues to showcase anti-epidemic materials, medical equipment, and Chinese medicine, relating to the entire industry chain of health.

  • India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) have launched the initiative of doorstep service for submission of Digital Life Certificate through Postman. 

 

  • The facility to submit life certificates online through Jeevan Pramaan Portal was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November, 2014 with the objective to provide a convenient and transparent facility to pensioners for submission of Life Certificate.

  • Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Defense (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik Virtually launched the 5th Scorpene-class submarine “INS Vagir” in the Arabian sea waters at Mazgaon Dock, Mumbai. 
  • Vagir is a part of the six Kalvari-class submarines, designed by French naval defence and energy company DCNS, and being built in India. INS Vagir was followed by INS Kalvari, INS Khanderi, INS Karanj and INS Vela respectively.

DRDO develops fire detection and suppression system for passenger buses:

 

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed for passenger buses a technology called “Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS)”.

 

  • Demonstrations were given on water mist-based FDSS for passenger compartment and aerosol-based FDSS for engine fire. DRDO’s Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES), Delhi has developed the technology.

Vellayan Subbiah appointed new chairman of Cholamandalam Investment Finance:

  • Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd. (Chola), a Murugappa group firm named Vellayan Subbiah as the chairman. He will replace M M Murugappan who resigned as Chairman and Director on attaining the age of 65 years. Subbiah is the MD of Tube Investments of India Ltd.

TNAU Professor K S Subramanian wins Fertiliser Association of India Golden Jubilee Award 2020:

 

  • Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) research director Dr K S Subramanian has been chosen for the Fertiliser Association of India Golden Jubilee Award. He is also director of research and NABARD chair, got the award for his contribution to the field of nano-fertilisers and its role in improved use while ensuring environmental safety.

 

  • The award will be presented at the inaugural function of FAI’s Annual Seminar on “Fertilizer and Agriculture during COVID-19” which will be held in New Delhi.

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari releases former Minister Rajendra Darda’s book ‘Majhi Bhint’:

  • Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has released the book ‘Majhi Bhint’ (My Wall) authored by former Maharashtra Minister of Education Rajendra Darda at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. The book is a compilation of selected Facebook posts of Rajendra Darda pertaining to a range of issues written over the last four years.

A New Book titled “Boskiyana: The Life and the World of Gulzar” authored by Yashwant Vyas:

  • Bollywood actor Asif Basra allegedly died by suicide at a private guest house in McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Basra had appeared in a number of Bollywood films, thriller series Paatal Lok, including a movie on the 1993 Mumbai blasts Black Friday, the 2002 Gujarat riots Parzania and Kai Po Che.
