Constitution Day being celebrated today – 26th November

  • Constitution Day or Samvidhan divas, is being celebrated today across the country to mark the adopting of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949.
  • It came into force on 26th January, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of Indian Republic.
  • The government has planned year long activities throughout the country to mark 70 years of the adoption of the Constitution.

National Milk Day – 26th November

  • National Milk Day is celebrated across the country on November 26 every year on the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien.
  • Dr. Verghese Kurien is the Father of White Revolution in India.
  • India is celebrating 98th birth anniversary of Dr. Kurien this year.
  • The first National Milk Day was celebrated on 26 November 2014 where various milk producers from 22 states participated.

Nuclear capable Prithvi-2 missile successfully testfired

  • India successfully testfired on Wednesday night its indigenously developed nuclear capable surface-to-surface Prithvi-2 missile as part of a user trial by the Army from a test range off Odisha coast
  • The missile was randomly chosen from the production stock and the entire launch activity was carried out by SFC of the Army and monitored by scientists of DRDO as part of the training exercise
  • The trial of the missile, which has a strike range of 350 km, was carried out from a mobile launcher from launch complex-3 of the ITR.

NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 will be held in Manesar, Haryana

  • The three-day NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 will be held in Manesar, Haryana from November 27 to 29, 2019.
  • It will be organized by International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar based on the theme “Smart & Green Mobility” to find alternative mobility solutions to problems like pollution emanating from vehicular emissions.
  • It will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari.

Internet connections to 2 lakhs Gram Panchayat by 2020

  • Government of India has set a target of providing broad band connectivity to two lakh Gram Panchayats by March 2020.
  • So far (till 7th November, 2019) over 1,28,000 Gram Panchayats have already been connected.
  • The project is being implemented under the BharatNet Project.

  • The Indian Navy will host military drill ‘Milan 2020’ in March which will witness the participation of several countries, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said on Monday.
  • The countries to whom invitations have been sent are Indonesia, France, Mozambique, Sudan, Israel, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Somalia, Kenya, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Myanmar, New Zealand, USA, Tanzania, Comoros, Maldives, Brunei, Philippines, Japan, UK, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Mauritius, Cambodia, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Kuwait, Iran, Madagascar, Bangladesh, Russia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Bahrain, UAE and Seychelles.

  • World Largest Flower Carpet Made Out of Bengaluru Marigold in Dubai as entered the Guinness Book of World Record. 
  • The modern facilities at the international airport helped organisers of Flowers of Tolerance in Dubai enter the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the largest natural flower carpet.
  • A total of 41.45 tonne (41,450 kg) of marigold flowers was airlifted from the Kempegowda International Airport on November 22 to the Dubai Festival City where the event was held.

ATDC inks MoU with Times Group 

  • Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) inked a memorandum of understanding with the Times Group for organizing the 65th Filmfare Awards here on February 15, 2020.
  • The MoU signed in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Bennett Coleman and Company Limited managing director Vineet Jain.
  • The Filmfare Awards in Guwahati is a landmark event that would place Assam on the world map.

Pinaka: India’s highly successful guided weapon system

  • Pinaka is an indigenous multi-barrel rocket launch (MBRL) system, which has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Army.
  • Its weapon system has a state-of-the-art guidance kit bolstered by an advanced navigation and control system.

First woman pilot of Indian Navy to join operations on December

  • The first woman pilot, Lieutenant Shivangi, will join naval operations on completion of operational training here on December 2.
  • Shivangi will graduate to become the First female Pilot of Indian Navy.

India ranked 44th in Food vulnerability index by Nomura

  • Nomura’s Food Vulnerability Index (NFVI) ranks countries on the basis of their exposure to large swings in food prices.
  • India ranked 44 out of 110 countries; a higher rank is worse.
  • At 4.6%, India’s retail inflation for October touched a 16-month high because of the jump in food prices.
  • Food inflation grew by almost 8% – nearly double the rate of overall retail inflation.
  • The essential items that contributed to this rise were pulses (inflation rate 12%) and vegetables (inflation rate 26%) and fish and meat (inflation rate 10%).

India to host SCO forum of Young Scientists and Innovators 2020

India has been selected to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO) forum of Young Scientists and Innovators for the year 2020.

The decision was taken during the closing ceremony of the “5th Meeting of SCO Member States’ Heads of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology(S&T) and Permanent Working Group on S&T Cooperation”.

Lt General Sahir Shamshad Mirza appointed as New Chief of Joint Staff of Pakistan Army

  • Pakistan Army announced the appointment of Lt General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the new Chief of Joint Staff and also the promotion of two Major Generals to the post of Lt General.
  • Ali Amir Awan and Muhammad Saeed serving as Major Generals elevated to the ranks of Lieutenant Generals. He is appointed Chief of Joint Staff.
