Reserve Bank of India approves FPIs to invest in InvITs and REITs

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) to acquire debt securities issued by Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
  • FPIs can acquire debt securities issued by InvITs and REITs under the Medium-Term Framework (MTF) or the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR).

  • Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has appointed Bhaskar Bhatt as India’s head coach of the senior women’s boxing team. He replaced Mohammad Ali Qamar, who was the first Indian boxer to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the 2002 edition.

  • UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay describes the list of 49 cities selected in recognition of their commitment to placing the culture and creativity at the heart of their development and to sharing knowledge and good practices.

Wang Yaping becomes the first Chinese woman astronaut to walk in space

  • Wang Yaping became the first Chinese woman astronaut to walk in space as she moved out of the under-construction space station and took part in extravehicular activities for over six hours along with her male colleague Zhai Zhigang.

  • India ranked 18 out of 30 countries in the first edition of the Global Drug Policy Index, which was released by the Harm Reduction Consortium. Norway has topped the index, followed by New Zealand, Portugal, the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia.

Rohit Sharma becomes the third cricketer to score 3,000 runs in men’s T20I

  • Indian batter Rohit Sharma has completed 3000 T20 International runs and became the third cricketer in the world to achieve this feat.
  • Indian skipper Virat Kohli is at the top of the tally with 3227 runs, which is followed by New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and India’s Rohit Sharma with 3115 and 3008 runs, respectively.
