Union Culture Minister launches ‘Bujurgon Ki Baat-Desh Ke Saath’ programme in New Delhi                   

  • Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched a ‘Bujurgon Ki Baat-Desh Ke Saath’ programme in New Delhi aimed at enhancing the interaction between the youth and the elderly persons who are 95 years and above and have spent around 18 years in India before independence.
  • This is a unique programme in which India’s youth will spend time and interact with the elderly.

  • The Union Government constituted a task force and expert committee headed by Additional Secretary (Coal) Vinod Kumar Tiwari to prepare a road map for coal-based hydrogen production.
  • This is aimed at contributing to Indian Government’s agenda of becoming a hydrogen-based economy in a clean manner.

 Union Cabinet approves Rs. 10,683 crores for the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for textile sector

  • The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the textile sector with incentives worth Rs. 10,683 crores.
  • This scheme will have two categories — for investment up to Rs. 100 crores and another one for investment up to Rs. 300 crores. The Union Government expects this scheme to bring in a total investment of over Rs. 19,000 crores in five years.

TANGEDCO plans to set up solar power parks with battery storage systems

  • Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) will set up a 4000 MW solar power park to meet the growing energy demand and plans to set up solar power parks with battery storage systems in all the districts in Tamil Nadu.

  • The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Nasdaq-listed Fiserv Inc have agreed to collaborate on the launch of the plug-and-play RuPay credit card stack, ‘nFiNi’, to expand the market base by enabling fintech firms and banks on credit cards.
  • This BaaS (Banking-as-a-Service) programme provides fintech firms and banks with a ready-to-use stack of services for issuing RuPay credit cards.

  • The National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Coal India Limited (CIL) for a CSR contribution of Rs. 75 crores.

 NITI Aayog and Gujarat University sign a Statement of Intent (SoI) to promote cooperation in agriculture

  • A statement of intent (SoI) was signed by NITI Aayog and the Indian Institute of Sustainability, Gujarat University, with the objective of encouraging and promoting cooperation in the agricultural and related areas.
  • The Statement of Intent (SoI) focuses on technical collaboration between the two institutions to strengthen knowledge-sharing and policy development in India.

Namita Gokhale receives the 7th Yamin Hazarika Woman of Substance Award                 

  • Namita Gokhale won the 7th Yamin Hazari Woman of Substance Award in 2021.
  • It is organised by a collective of women professionals from the year 2015, the annual award honours Yamin Hazarika, the first woman from Northeast India to be selected for DANIPS, a federal police service that administered Delhi and the Union Territories in 1977.
