Karnataka Launches public bicycle sharing project:

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched India’s first public bicycle sharing (PBS) initiative “Trin Trin” in Mysuru. The city, with a population of 12 lakh people, is the first in India to have such a system

SDMC mobile Transfer stations to join hands to segregate waste:

Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal flagged off a fleet of garbage collection vehicles of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).

The new vehicles, comprising mobile transfer stations (MTSs) and auto tippers, were flagged off on the eve of World Environment Day.

Maharashtra looks to set up happiness department:

Maharashtra government is planning to set up a ‘Happiness Department’. The Happiness Department will work under the Relief and Rehabilitation department. 

The term ‘happiness’ is subjective; the UN comes out with an annual World Happiness Report which rates countries on six factors to judge how happy the residents of that country are. These factors include GDP per capita, healthy years of life expectancy, perceived freedom to make life decisions, and generosity as measured by recent donations in society.

Aadhaar must for kerosene subsidy and Atal Pension Yojana:

Aadhaar has now been made mandatory to get subsidy on kerosene and benefits of the Atal Pension Yojana.

The last date to get the Aadhaar or enrolment for getting it will be September 30th, in case of Kerosene subsidy. And for the Atal Pension Yojana, the deadline for getting the Aadhaar is June 15th.

Telangana launched a Pension scheme for single-women:

The Telangana government was the only government in the country to launch welfare schemes such as pension for single women for the betterment of society. The government decided to distribute pension Rs. 1,000 per month.

 

 


Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu launches mobile veterinary clinic:

    Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Sexed Semen for Cows Supply Scheme (SSCSS) and inaugurated mobile veterinary clinic under Sanchara Pasu Vaidya Seva Kendram (SPVSK) with grant-in-aid under PPP (Public Private Partnership).

The main aim was to provide veterinary service at the doorstep of farmers in uncovered areas.


Vizianagaram bags MGNREGA national award:

The Ministry of Rural Development has selected Vizianagaram (state: Andhra Pradesh) as one among the 17 districts across the nation for the MGNREGA annual award for effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act during 2015-16.The award function would be held in New Delhi.


Jharkhand attracted an investment of Rs 700 crore:

\Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that Jharkhand has attracted an investment of Rs 700 crore, which will create employment opportunities in the state.

He also appreciated efforts taken by state minister Saryu Roy in making Damodar River is pollution free. Now, 90 % of the Devnad Damodar River has become pollution free in the state.

UN General Assembly elects five non-permanent UNSC members: 

The UN General Assembly elected Cote D’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Kuwait, Poland and Peru as the non-permanent members of the Security Council for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2018.

The powerful UN Security Council is made up of 10 elected members and five permanent veto-wielding powers– the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia.

World’s fastest elevator to be installed in China:

The world’s fastest elevator that can operate at a record breaking speed of 1,260 metres per minute is set to be installed in a skyscraper complex in China.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and UAE cut diplomatic ties with Qatar:

    Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates all announced they would withdraw their diplomatic staff from Qatar citing that Qatar support for Islamist terrorist groups. All the nations also said they planned to cut air and sea traffic to the peninsular country.


Nepal signs mega hydro project deal with Chinese firm:

 Nepal has signed a major deal with a Chinese company Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) to develop a 1,200 MW Budhigandaki hydroelectric project, the biggest hydro project in the landlocked country that could resolve its perennial power crisis.

The agreement was signed by outgoing prime minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal “Yu Hong”.

PSBs including SBI, Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank plan to mobilise Rs 58,000 cr:

Public sector banks, including SBI, Bank of Baroda and IDBI Bank, plan to raise Rs 58,000 crore through equity dilution during the current fiscal to meet Basel-III norms and clean up their balance sheets.

Leading the pack, country’s largest lender SBI plans to raise Rs 15,000 crore through share sale and expects this to complete by the year-end, probably through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP).


India Economic Growth to Remain Flat At 7.1% in 2017-18: HSBC

India’s GDP or gross domestic product growth is expected to remain flat at 7.1 per cent in current fiscal year as investment is still weak and government spending might not be as high given the fiscal consolidation, according to a report released by HSBC

Andhra Bank and Allahabad Bank to sell Rs 6,000 crore of bad loans:

    Andhra Bank and Allahabad Bank have put up for sale nearly Rs 6,000 crore of bad loans. Andhra Bank to sell off more than 100 accounts worth Rs 4,000 crore of loans, Allahabad Bank has invited bids for 73 accounts with outstanding loans of Rs 2,000 crore.

 

 

 

 

 


HDFC buys 15% stake in Tanzania’s First Housing Finance Co:

As part of Greenfield expansion outside India, country’s largest mortgage lender HDFC Ltd has acquired a 15% stake in Tanzania’s First Housing Finance for $1.5 million. First Housing Finance co is the first housing finance company in the Tanzania that still has to commence operations.

World Bank forecasts global economy growing at 2.7%:

The World Bank report said that “despite substantial policy uncertainty,” the global economy still is expected to grow by 2.7 % for 2017, rising to 2.9 % in 2018 and 2019.

In a report, emerging market and developing economies are expected to grow 4.1 % this year, led by India which is expected to expand by 7.1% and China at 6.5%.


India slips to 45th spot in IMD’s World Competitiveness list:

India has been ranked 45th, in terms of competitiveness in the annual rankings compiled by IMD, in which Hong Kong topping the list.

    Switzerland and Singapore were ranked second and third respectively, with the USA at the fourth spot.

Param Jit Mann appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Slovak Republic:
