How to Approach New Pattern Error Spotting for IBPS 2017

Dear Banking Aspirant ,

The patterns of various topics have seen some changes in the recent exams and the difficulty level has changed too accordingly. There has been changes in almost all the sections and we hope you have started the preparations for the IBPS RRB exams. You have to give more importance to this section ,as this will be the deciding factor in the mains examination other than the current affairs section.

NEW PATTERN ERROR SPOTTING

Error Spotting has a spot in the exams in the IBPS exams in Prelims as well as the mains examinations. Five Questions will be asked from this topic and you can expect more if this topic is asked in the mains examination. ( IBPS RRB Scale I Officers and Office Assistants prelims don’t have the English section). There are three different pattern of questions from this section asked in the exams till now. But we cannot assure , as there are changes in every exams in all the exams. So , even if there is changes in this section , we have to be prepared to answer the questions wisely.

Pattern I

You would be all aware of this section , as you would have practiced this pattern of questions in huge numbers. The sentence will be divided into parts and we have to identify the part which is INCORRECT. Mostly if you know all the grammatical rules , you could ace this pattern easily. The difficulty lies only if the sentences are too large and if we fail to crack the grammatical errors in the sentences.

Eg.

Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical mistake/error in it. The error, if any, will be in one part of the sentence. Mark the number of the part with error as your answer. If you do not find any error in the sentence, select ‘No error’ as your answer.

d) play in the cages The last part of the sentence should be ‘playing in the cages’. The reference is to the action of the monkeys playing when children are visiting the park.

Pattern II

This section slightly differs from the first one. In the previous pattern, only one sentence will be given and the error has to be spotted from that sentence only. Here there will be same sentence with little difference in different options. Aspirants have to find the sentence which is CORRECT/INCORRECT from the given options. This follows the same method as the above and there can be found if we spot the grammatical errors and also some mistakes in the formation of the sentences. All the sentences will be alike and finding the answer to these questions is time consuming.

Finding the CORRECT sentence among the incorrect sentence is the most prevalent type asked in the exams.  The latter one , finding the INCORRECT sentence from the correct sentences is a rare one.

Eg.

Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical mistake/error in it.Choose the sentence /Option which is CORRECT without any errors in it.

Use ‘earlier’ in place of ‘early’, also apart from the correct option , other questions has grammatical mistakes

Pattern III

In this pattern , there will be five sentences which has different theme and aspirants have to find the one which sentence is Incorrect among the other options or pick the Correct Option from the sentences among the incorrect sentences. Both of these two variations have been asked in the recently over SBI exams. This is the most complex and time consuming pattern because aspirants has to identify one sentence out of the other options which are of different themes. Arriving at a conclusion on a final answer really takes time.

Also in this pattern , the error could be a grammatical errors or errors related to homophones and others. Logically in this pattern too if we are strong in the grammar rules , we could easily crack the options and could find the correct one.

Eg.

Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical mistake/error in it.Choose the sentence /Option which is CORRECT without any errors in it.
