How to Prepare for Descriptive paper ?

Having a Fear about Descriptive Paper in SBI PO, BOB PO Examinations? If yes, Go through this article and get clarified.
The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.
Generally 18-19 marks require to pass this section .
Strategy
1) Follow any English newspaper.
2) Understand writing skill in newspaper.
3) Keep watch on current ,economic topic. Essay topic mostly came from there.
4) Try to practice daily on one topic.(check it from anyone)
5)For Letter writing keep in mind format of Letter. Practise according to that.
Essays in SBI PO exam come from a variety from genre. These can be categorized as:
- Social / Economic Issues: Women Empowerment, Corruption, Reservation, etc.
- Current Affairs:some likely ones are- 1) Brexit 2) Kashmir Militancy 3)Terrorism(IS ) 4) Uniform Civil Code 5) Chinese Slowdown 6) American Elections
You will most probably get a few of them in your exam out of which you will have to choose 1 of your choice.
Must follow to score good in Descriptive paper
- Make it a habit to read every day. This would contribute towards your vocabulary and also to gather good points for your essays.
- Carry a dictionary with you. Thanks to the evolving technology that had comforted with dictionary apps.
- If you come across a new word, never hesitate or delay to grab different synonyms, antonyms and the possible usages.
- Don’t just refer to the synonym of the new word and let it go. Instead start using the word in your regular conversation. It would not just help you out with your banking exams, but would also let you feel motivated.
- Avoid repeating the same word or phrase in your writing; learn to use alternatives.
- Short sentences are better than long ones.
- Practice using as many model test papers as possible.
