SSC CHSL EXAM – Previous Year Cutoff Marks

The SSC CHSL Exam 2017 registrations date has been extended twice this year for the convenience of the candidates to register for the exams. Also this SSC CHSL (10+2) Exam which is conducted for various posts like Lower Division Clerks (LDC) / Junior Secreteriat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA) / Sorting Assistant (SA) , Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) Grade “A”.

SSC have also mentioned that the last date to apply for the post of SSC CHSL Exam 2017 will not be extended further as it has been extended twice due to the requests of the aspirants who faced problems in applying for the exam. The total number of vacancies available for SSC CHSL Exam 2017 is 3259. The exam pattern is similar to that of the other exams and the aspirants have to attend 100 questions in 60 minutes and the total marks awarded  for the 100 questions are 200 marks.

Important Points to Note regarding SSC CHSL Application Process 

The payment of the SSC CHSL Exam 2017 can be paid till the working hours of the Bank till 29th December, 2017. Please check the appropriate dates for the Dates regarding the SSC CHSL Exam 2017.

  • Last Date To Apply for SSC CHSL Exam 2017 – 27th December, 2017 (till 5.00 P.M)
  • Last to Pay for the SSC CHSL Exam 2017 (in the Designated Bank Branches) – 29th December, 2017 (Till Working Hours of the Bank)

The first phase of the exam (Tier I ) is a Computer Based Online Exam and the aspirants should have the basic skills and knowledge to crack the SSC CHSL Tier I Exam. The Tier II of the SSC CHSL Exam is a descriptive paper and the candidate has to obtain a minimum of 33%  to qualify for the final phase of the SSC CHSL EXAM 2017. The scores of the Tier II will be used to make the merit list of the SSC CHSL Exam. The Tier II Exam is for 100 marks and the candidate has to write a essay and a letter in the TIER II of the SSC CHSL Exam. This TIER II Exam evaluates a candidate’s language proficiency, since this is much needed for the profile.

The Tier III of the SSC CHSL Exam 2017 is a typing test and the the criteria is different for different posts. For the posts of Data Entry Operators , a data entry of 8000 Key Depressions per hour is required and for the posts of Data Entry Operator in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C& AG) , 15000 key depression per hour is required. This test is of qualifying in nature and candidates who qualify from the TIER II of the SSC CHSL EXAM 2017 will take part in this phase of the exam.

As said above , the minimum qualifying marks in the Tier II will be 33% and the candidates who didn’t get the minimum qualification marks will not be considered for the next phase and also note that the merit list for the Tier III which is the Typing Test will be based on TIER II written descriptive Exam in SSC CHSL. The cutoff scores will be the addition of TIER I and TIER II which will be considered for the examination.


The cutoff marks of the SSC CHSL has risen in the consequent years, so be prepared for the exams. Since the aspirants have ample time to prepare for the SSC CHSL Exams (as the Tier I Exam of the SSC CHSL Exam 2017, starts from 4th March 2018 to 26th March 2018). Also note that descriptive paper and typing test are also there in the subsequent phases, so preparations and importance should be given to the other phases too. Since the questions will be in the basic level , the secret of clearing the SSC CHSL Exam 2017 lies in scoring maximum marks since the cutoff marks will be high when considering the number of vacancies.

Always a maximum attempt in the SSC CHSL Exam will pave the way to clear the exam.
