1. US President Joe Biden formally announced the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan before 11 September 2021

• US President Joe Biden has formally announced his decision to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan before 11 September 2021, the 20^th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre (11 September 2001).
• The withdrawal will begin on 1 May 2021 in line with an agreement that President Donald Trump’s administration made with the Taliban, and the complete withdrawal will be made by 11 September 2021.

• அதிபர் டொனால்ட் டிரம்பின் நிர்வாகம் தாலிபான்களுடன் செய்த ஒப்பந்தத்தின்படி, 1 மே இல் திரும்பப் பெறுதல் தொடங்கும் என்றும், 11 செப்டம்பருக்குள் முழுமையான திரும்பப் பெறுதல் முடியும்.

2. Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam replaced Indian Captain Virat Kohli as World No-1 batsman in ICC Men’s ODI Rankings

• In the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) rankings for ODI batsmen, Pakistan Captain Babar Azam has climbed to the No.1 spot replacing Virat Kohli, who was occupying the top position for nearly three and a half years. Babar’s rating points was 865, surpassing Kohli’s 857 points. Rohit Sharma occupied 3^rd position with 825 points. Babar Azam is the fourth player from Pakistan to top the ODI batting rankings after Zaheer Abbas(1983-84), Javed Miandad(1988-89), and Mohammad Yousuf(2003).
• Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has held on to his fourth position behind top-ranked Trent Boult of New Zealand, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Kiwi pacer Matt Henry. 
• R Ashwin is the only Indian to find a place in the top 10 all-rounders list at the No. 9 spot.

3. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has approved additional funding towards clinical studies of India’s first of its kind mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine – HGCO19

• The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology has approved additional funding towards clinical studies of India’s first of its kind mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine – HGCO19. This funding has been provided under the Mission COVID Suraksha. 
• It was developed by Pune-based biotechnology company Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. in collaboration with HDT Biotech Corporation of USA has developed the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine – HGCO19.
• mRNA vaccines are considered safe as mRNA is non-infectious, non-integrating in nature, and degraded by standard cellular mechanisms.

4. Fund raised through public offering doubled in FY 2021-22

• Ministry of Finance announced that fund raised through Initial Public Offering and Follow-on Public Offering doubled in FY 2021-22.
• Fund raising for Public Issues and Rights Issues registered an increase of 115% and 15% respectively in FY 2020-21.
• Number of issues in the Corporate Bond Market increased by 10% in FY 2020-21.
• Number of unique investors across Mutual Fund schemes also increased by 10% in FY 2020-21.

5. Former Election Commissioner Dr. GVG Krishnamurthy passed away

• Former Election Commissioner GVG Krishnamurthy passed away at the age of 86 in Delhi.
• An Indian Legal Service officer, Krishnamurty became the election commissioner in 1993.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the sixth edition of the Raisina Dialogue Mr. Kagame, President of Rwanda and Ms. Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark addressed the inaugural session as Chief Guests.

7. Piyush Goyal inaugurates e-SANTA, an electronic marketplace for aqua farmers

• Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated e-SANTA. e-SANTA is an electronic marketplace providing a platform to connect aqua farmers and buyers.
• e-SANTA will act as an alternative marketing tool between farmers and buyers by eliminating middlemen. The term e-SANTA stands for Electronic Solution for Augmenting NaCSA farmers’ Trade in Aquaculture.
• National Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture (NaCSA) is an extension arm of the Marine Products Export Development Authority.

7. நீர் விவசாயிகளுக்கான மின்னணு சந்தையான இ–சான்டாவை பியூஷ் கோயல் தொடங்கிவைத்தார்

8. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched Online Grievance Management Portal of National Commission for Scheduled Castes

• Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the Online Grievance Management Portal of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
• Presently the complaints of victims, who are members of Scheduled Caste, are processed manually in the commission. The new mechanism has been introduced to handle the complaints in online mode from the victim.
• The National Commission for Scheduled Castes is an Indian constitutional body established under Article 338 with a view to provide safeguard against the exploitation of Scheduled Castes. It was separated from the National Commission for Tribes in 89^th amendment of 2003.

• Central Government has launched Aahaar Kranti, a mission dedicated to spread awareness about nutrition. It is designed to address the peculiar problem of hunger and diseases in abundance, being faced by India and the world.
• Aahaar Kranti has been launched with the motto of Uttam Aahaar- Uttam Vichaar or Good Diet-Good Cognition.
• India produces as much as two times the amount of calories it consumes. However, many in the country are still malnourished. The root cause of this strange phenomenon is a lack of nutritional awareness.

10. Principal Scientific Adviser K Vijay Raghavan launched MANAS App to promote well-being across age groups

• Principal Scientific Adviser to the Central Government, K Vijay Raghavan has launched the MANAS App to promote wellbeing across age groups.
• MANAS which stands for Mental Health and Normalcy Augmentation System, was endorsed as a national program by the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council.
• It is an app developed to augment the mental well-being of Indian citizens. The application integrates the health and wellness efforts of various government ministries, scientifically validated indigenous tools with gamified interfaces developed by various national bodies and research institutions.

10. முதன்மை அறிவியல் ஆலோசகர் கே. விஜய் ராகவன் வயதுவந்தோர் நல்வாழ்வை மேம்படுத்துவதற்காக மனாஸ் (MANAS) செயலியை அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்
