TAMIL NADU

1. Sikkampattu and Devi Agaram of Tamil Nadu achieve 100% COVID-19 vaccine coverage

• Two villages in the Kallakurichi district have been declared as the first to achieve 100% coverage of their eligible population with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
• According to Kallakurichi Collector P.N. Sridhar,
• Sikkampattu village in Ulundurpet block and
• Devi Agaram in Tirukovilur block

had achieved the milestone of vaccinating 100% of their population.

CABINET

2. Union Cabinet approves amendment for making the post of Chairman of the Coconut Development Board as Non-Executive Chairman in the Coconut Development Board Act, 1979

• The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare to make the post of Chairman of the Coconut Development Board, as non-executive one.
• It will be beneficial to the coconut growers at large.

2. தேங்காய் மேம்பாட்டு வாரியத்தின் தலைவரை நிறைவேற்று அல்லாத தலைவராக நியமிக்க 1979ஆம் ஆண்டு தேங்காய் மேம்பாட்டு வாரிய சட்டத்தில் திருத்தம் செய்ய மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது

• தேங்காய் மேம்பாட்டு வாரியத்தின் தலைவரை நிறைவேற்று அல்லாத தலைவராக மாற்ற வேளாண்மை, ஒத்துழைப்பு மற்றும் உழவர் நலத்துறை முன்மொழிவுக்கு மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.

3. Cabinet expansion:

• The average age of the expanded Union Cabinet with 43 new ministers is 58.
• It consists of 27 members from backward communities, 12 from Scheduled Castes, 8 from tribals and 5 from religious minorities.
• The number of women ministers has increased to 11 with the appointment of seven new women ministers in the cabinet.
• This is the Cabinet with the largest number of women.

3. அமைச்சரவை விரிவாக்கம்:

• மோடியின் தலைமையிலான அமைச்சரவையில் புதிதாக ஏழு பெண் அமைச்சர்கள் இடம்பெற்றிருப்பதன் மூலமாகப் பெண் அமைச்சர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 11 ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
• 2004-க்குப் பிறகு, அதிக அளவில் பெண்கள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள அமைச்சரவை என்ற பெயரையும் தற்போது விரிவுபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ள அமைச்சரவை பெற்றுள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

4. Union Cabinet approves a Memorandum on Cooperation (MoC) between the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC)

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Memorandum on Cooperation (MoC) between the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) to promote and strengthen cooperation in the matter of competition law and policy.
• This will enable CCI to emulate and learn from the experiences and lessons of its counterpart competition agency in Japan which would enhance efficiency.
• The same will help improve enforcement of the Competition Act, 2002, by CCI.
• The resultant outcomes will benefit consumers at large and will promote equity and inclusiveness.

5. Olympics to be held without spectators after Tokyo declares ‘COVID State of Emergency’

• The Olympics will take place without spectators in Tokyo as a resurgent coronavirus forced Japan to declare the COVID State of Emergency.
• Japan’s Minister for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Tamayo Marukawa, made this announcement.

• Udayan Mane became the second Indian male golfer after Anirban Lahiri to be Tokyo Olympics.
• The 30-year-old Mane, currently the second-highest ranked Indian in the world at 356.

6. Zaila Avant-garde becomes the first African-American to win National Spelling Bee

• Zaila Avant-garde, the 14 year-old from Harvey, Louisiana, became the first African American winner and the only second African champion in the National Spelling Bee’s 96-year history .

7. Dilip Kumar passed away on 7 July 2021

• Dilip Kumar was an Indian actor and film producer, best known for his work in Hindi cinema. He is referred to as the “Tragedy King” and “The First Khan”.
• He was appointed as the Sheriff of Mumbai (an honorary position) for 1980.

The Government of India honoured Dilip Kumar with the:

• Padma Bhushan in 1991,
• the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and
• the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

7. திலீப் குமார் 7 ஜூலை 2021 அன்று காலமானார்

• திலீப் குமார் ஒரு இந்திய நடிகரும் திரைப்பட தயாரிப்பாளரும் ஆவார். இந்தி சினிமாவில் அவரது பணிக்காக அவர் நன்கு அறியப்பட்டவர். “ட்ராஜடி கிங்” மற்றும் “தி ஃபர்ஸ்ட் கான்” என்றும் இவர் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறார்.

8. World’s tallest sandcastle was constructed in Denmark

• A sandcastle in Denmark has entered into new Guinness World Record for being the tallest sandcastle in the world.
• The triangular-shaped sandcastle has been built in the town of Blokhus in Denmark.
• It stands at a height of 21.16 metres (69.4 feet).
• This new structure is 3.5 m taller than the previous record held by the sandcastle, measuring 17.66 m in Germany in 2019.

8. உலகின் மிக உயரமான மணல் கோட்டை டென்மார்க்கில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது
