 1. NHRC issued notice to Rajasthan government over rising incidents of crime against women in Rajasthan

• National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, and the Director General of Police, Rajasthan over complaints of exponential increase in the incidents of crime against women in the State.
• The NHRC said that 80 thousand cases were registered in the State in the last one year.
• Accordingly, the Commission had directed them to enquire into the specific incidents and submit an Action Taken Report within four weeks.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):

• National Human Rights Commission is a statutory bodyestablished under the Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993.
• It was established on 12 October 1993.
• It consists of a Chairman and seven other members with a tenure of 5 years or 70 years of age.
• The chairperson is a retired Chief Justice of India or a Judge of the Supreme Court.
• They are appointed by the President on the recommendations of a six-member committee consisting of:

1. Prime Minister (Head)
2. Speaker of the Lok Sabha
3. Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha
4. Leaders of the Opposition in Lok Sabha
5. Leaders of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha
6. Union Home Minister

• They can be removed by the President under specific circumstances.

1. ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலத்தில் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்றங்கள் அதிகரித்து வருவது தொடர்பாக ராஜஸ்தான் அரசுக்கு தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம் நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியுள்ளது

• ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலத்தில் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்ற சம்பவங்கள் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது என்ற புகார் தொடர்பாக, தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம் (NHRC) ராஜஸ்தான் தலைமைச் செயலாளருக்கும், ராஜஸ்தான் காவல்துறை தலைமை இயக்குநருக்கும் நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியுள்ளது.
• கடந்த ஓராண்டில் மாநிலத்தில் 80 ஆயிரம் வழக்குகள் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாக தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
• அதன்படி, குறிப்பிட்ட சம்பவங்கள் குறித்து விசாரித்து, நான்கு வாரங்களுக்குள் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்ட அறிக்கையை சமர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும் என, ஆணையம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம் (NHRC):

• தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம் 1993ஆம் ஆண்டு மனித உரிமைகள் பாதுகாப்புச் சட்டத்தின் கீழ் நிறுவப்பட்ட ஒரு சட்ட அமைப்பு ஆகும்.

2. Saurabh Garg is appointed as the CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)

• Senior bureaucrat Saurabh Garg has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Garg is at present serving in his cadre state Odisha. He is a 1991 batch IAS officer.

Unique Identification Authority of India

• The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a statutory authority.
• It was established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on 12 July 2016 under the provisions of the Aadhaar Act 2016.
• The UIDAI is mandated to assign a 12-digit unique identification number (Aadhaar) to all the residents of India.

3. Bacteria found on International Space Station named after Indian scientist Ajmal Khan

• According to a study published in the Frontiers in Microbiology, four strains from the family of Mytholobacteriaceae were found on various locations on the International Space Station (ISS).
• It has been named after Indian scientist Ajmal Khan.

4. NASA Perseverance rover captures sounds of it driving around Mars

• NASA’s rover to the Mars has sent back an audio file containing sounds of the Perseverance driving on the Red Planet.
• This is the first such audio recorded of any vehicle driving around in Mars.

5. Bengaluru’s Kempegowda airport became the first airport in South India to have operational parallel runways

• Kempegowda International Airport created history when its northern runway re-opened for operations alongside its southern runway, making it the only airport in south India to have parallel operation runways.

It received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and commenced its operations for North runway.

• Parallel runway in Bengaluru Airport, will offer the flexibility to operate both runways in low visibility and adverse weather conditions.

Simultaneous opposite direction parallel runway operations (SODPROPS)

• Simultaneous opposite direction parallel runway operations (SODPROPS), is a method of coordinating the arrival and departure of aircraft on parallel runways.

• Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and South Korean Defence Minister Suh Wook inaugurated the Indo-Korean Bilateral Friendship Park in Delhi Cantonment.
• Friendship Park has been built to commemorate the contribution of Indian peacekeepers during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

• Korean war took place between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953.
• It was actually a proxy war between USA and USSR.

• Tejaswini Sawant and Sanjeev Rajput won a gold medal in the 50m rifle mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup held in Delhi.
• Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sunidhi Chauhan won the bronze medal against USA’s Timothy Sherry and Virginia Thrasher (31-15) at the Karni Singh Shooting Range.

9. Para Shooter Sidhartha Babu claimed bronze medal: India finished with 7 medals

• Para shooter Sidhartha Babu claimed a bronze medal as India ended their campaign with seven medals including two gold medals at the Al Ain 2021 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates.
• Ukraine finished top of the medal table with 11 medals, followed by host nation UAE which won five medals while India finished third place with 7 medals (two gold medals, one silver, and four bronze medals).
• Para shooter Manish Narwal had set a new world record on way to clinching gold in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.

10. Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar was chosen as venues for 2022 Women’s Asian Cup

• Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar were finalised as the three venues for the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup football tournament to be hosted by India
• India is hosting the Women’s Asian Cup from 20 January to 6 February 2022. India is also scheduled to host the next edition of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in 2022.
• The DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), Trans Stadia (Ahmedabad) and the Kalinga Stadium (Bhubaneswar) will host the matches.
