• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched vaccination program for differently abed persons. Under this program, differently abled persons will be vaccinated at their home. This step is taken in the context that it would be difficult for them to come out of their homes.

Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016

• Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 replaces the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. The act is in line with the United National Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), in which India is a signatory. According to the act, the responsibility has been cast upon the appropriate governments to take effective measures to ensure that the persons with disabilities enjoy their rights equally with others.

• மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் உரிமைகள் சட்டம், 2016, மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் (சம வாய்ப்புகள், உரிமைகளைப் பாதுகாத்தல் மற்றும் முழுப்பங்கேற்பு) சட்டம், 1995க்கு பதிலாக வகுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த சட்டம் இந்தியா கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ள, மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளின் உரிமைகள் தொடர்பான ஐக்கிய தேசிய உடன்படிக்கைக்குட்பட்டு உள்ளது. இச்சட்டத்தின்படி, மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் மற்றவர்களுடன் சமமாக தங்கள் உரிமைகளை அனுபவிப்பதை உறுதி செய்ய பயனுள்ள நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்க வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு பொருத்தமான அரசாங்கங்கள் மீது சுமத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

NATIONAL

2. Cyclone ‘Yaas’ develops into severe cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal

• The low-pressure area in the North Andaman Sea develops into severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ in Bay of Bengal. The name ‘Yaas’ is given by Oman.
• It moves in the North Westerly direction and is likely to make landfall between North Odisha and West Bengal around 26 May.
• Naval aircrafts INS Dega at Visakhapatnam and INS Rajali near Chennai are kept ready to undertake aerial survey of the most affected areas, casualty evacuation, and airdrop of relief material as required.

Tropical Cyclone

• Tropical cyclones are cyclones formed between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. It is thermal in origin and needs 27degree temperature for its formation and continuous supply of moisture for its sustenance.

2. வங்காள விரிகுடாவில் ‘யாஸ்’ புயல் கடுமையான புயலாக உருவாகிறது

• வடக்கு அந்தமான் கடலில் உள்ள குறைந்த காற்றழுத்தப் பகுதி வங்காள விரிகுடாவில் கடுமையான புயலாக உருவாகிறது. ‘யாஸ்’ என்ற பெயரை ஓமன் வழங்கியுள்ளது.
• இது வட மேற்கு திசையில் நகர்கிறது மற்றும் 26 மே அன்று வடக்கு ஒடிசா மற்றும் மேற்கு வங்காளத்திற்கு இடையே கரையைக் கடக்கும் என்று தெரிகிறது.
• விசாகப்பட்டினத்தில் உள்ள ஐஎன்எஸ் டேகா மற்றும் சென்னை அருகே உள்ள ஐஎன்எஸ் ராஜாலி ஆகிய கடற்படை விமானங்கள் மிகவும் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில் வான்வழி ஆய்வு, உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் வெளியேற்றம் மற்றும் தேவைக்கேற்ப நிவாரணப் பொருட்களை வான்வழி வழங்க தயாராக வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

• வெப்பமண்டல சூறாவளிகள் என்பது கடக ரேகைக்கும் மகர ரேகைக்கும் இடையே உருவாகும் சூறாவளிகளாகும். இது வெப்பம் மூலம் தோன்றும் மற்றும் அதன் உருவாக்கத்திற்கு 27 டிகிரி வெப்பநிலை மற்றும் அதன் நிலைப்பிற்கு தொடர்ச்சியான ஈரப்பத வழங்கல் தேவைப்படுகிறது.

3. Uttarakhand Government announces Vatsalya Yojana for children orphaned due to Corona

• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has announced Chief Minister Vatsalya Yojana for orphaned children who have lost their parents due to Covid-19.
• The state will be given a maintenance allowance of 3000 per month. The state government will make laws for the paternal property of these orphans in which no one will have the right to sell their paternal property until they are adults. This responsibility will be with the District Magistrate of the concerned district. They will be given 5 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs of the state government.

3. கரோனா காரணமாக பெற்றோரை இழந்த குழந்தைகளுக்கு வத்சலியா யோஜனா திட்டத்தை உத்தரகாண்ட் அரசு அறிவிக்கிறது

• கோவிட்-19 காரணமாக பெற்றோரை இழந்த குழந்தைகளுக்கு முதல்வர் வத்சலியா திட்டத்தை உத்தரகாண்ட் முதல்வர் திரத் சிங் ராவத் அறிவித்துள்ளார்.
• மாநில அரசு மாதம் ரூ. 3000 பராமரிப்பிற்காக வழங்கும். இந்த குழந்தைகள் பெரியவர்களாகும் வரை அவர்களின் பெற்றோரின் சொத்துக்களை விற்க யாருக்கும் உரிமை இருக்காது, இதற்கான சட்டங்களை மாநில அரசு இயற்றும். இந்தப் பொறுப்பு சம்பந்தப்பட்ட மாவட்ட நீதிபதியிடம் இருக்கும். அவர்களுக்கு மாநில அரசின் அரசு வேலைகளில் 5 சதவீத கிடைமட்ட இடஒதுக்கீடு வழங்கப்படும்.

4. Union Government integrates e-way bill with FasTag

• The integration of e-way bill with FasTag will help in the live vigilance of vehicles and check GST evasion. e-way bill mobile application has also been launched.
• e-way bill mobile application of tax officers will provide them real-time tracking details of e-way bill and vehicle to help them nab tax evaders who are misusing the e-way bill system.
• Under the goods and services tax (GST) regime, e-way bills have been made mandatory for inter-state transportation of goods valued over Rs. 50,000 from April 2018. However, gold is exempted. In the electronic way (e-way) bill system, businesses and transporters must produce before a GST inspector the e-way bill, if asked.

• National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) is constituted in the Cabinet Secretariat. Cabinet Secretary is the Chairman of NCMC.
• Secretaries of Ministries/Departments and agencies with specific Disaster management responsibilities are the members of the Committee.
• The Committee oversee the command, control, and coordination of the disaster response.

7. World’s largest iceberg A-76 broke-off from Antarctica

• World’s largest iceberg A-76 of area 4330 sq. km broke off from Antarctica. A-67 broke off from the Ronne Ice shelf that is located at Weddell sea in Antarctica. It is said to be roughly half the size of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Scientists have said that, this is just the part of natural cycle of ice.
• A-23A was the previous known largest iceberg of area 3880 sq. km.

7. உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய பனிப்பாறை ஏ-76 அண்டார்டிகாவிலிருந்து உடைந்தது

• 4330 ச.கி.மீ பரப்பளவுள்ள உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய பனிப்பாறை ஏ-76 அண்டார்டிகாவிலிருந்து உடைந்தது. அண்டார்டிகாவில் உள்ள வெட்டெல் கடலில் அமைந்துள்ள ரோனே ஐஸ் ஷெல்ஃப்பில் இருந்து ஏ-67 உடைந்தது. இது அந்தமான் மற்றும் நிக்கோபார் தீவுகளின் அளவில் கிட்டத்தட்ட பாதி அளவு என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. விஞ்ஞானிகள், இது இயற்கை பனிசுழற்சியின் ஒரு பகுதி என்று கூறியுள்ளனர்.

8. Father of hybrid rice passes away at the age of 91

• Yuan Longping, popularly known as the ‘Father of hybrid rice’ passed away at the age of 91.
• The first hybrid rice combo Nan-you No.2 helped China to overcome famine in 1960s by increasing the yield by 20%. The similar technique was also followed in India, which is known as Green revolution.
• Yuan Longping was honoured with the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2001 and World Food prize in 2004.

8. கலப்பின அரிசியின் தந்தை தனது 91வது வயதில் காலமானார்

• ‘கலப்பின (ஹைபிரிட்) அரிசியின் தந்தை’ என்று பிரபலமாக அறியப்பட்ட யுவான் லாங்பிங் தனது 91வது வயதில் காலமானார்.
• முதல் கலப்பின அரிசியான நான்-யூ நம்பர் 2 சீனாவின் 1960களில் பஞ்சத்தை சமாளிக்க உதவியது. இதே போன்ற தொழில்நுட்பம் இந்தியாவிலும் பின்பற்றப்பட்டது, இது பசுமைப் புரட்சி என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

DAY IN HISTORY

10. Birth anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy – 22 May

• Raja Ram Mohan Roy was born on 22 May 1772. He is known as the ‘Father of Modern India’. He found the Brahmo Sabha, the precursor of the Brahmo Samaj.
• Brahmo Samaj, a social-religious reform movement in the India was found in August 1828. He successfully campaigned against Sati, the practice of burning widows and child marriage.
• Raja Ram Mohan Roy is also known as the ‘Father of the Bengal Renaissance’ by many historians. Bentick abolished Sati by passing the Sati Abolition Act,1829 due to the efforts of Raja ram Mohan Roy.

10. ராஜா ராம் மோகன் ராய் பிறந்த நாள் – 22 மே

• ராஜா ராம் மோகன் ராய் 22 மே 1772 அன்று பிறந்தார். அவர் ‘நவீன இந்தியாவின் தந்தை’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். பிரம்ம சமாஜத்தின் முன்னோடியான பிரம்ம சபையை அவர் நிறுவினார்.
• பிரம்ம சமாஜம் என்ற சமூக-மத சீர்திருத்த இயக்கம் ஆகஸ்ட் 1828இல் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. குழந்தைத் திருமணம், விதவைகளை எரிக்கும் நடைமுறையான சதி ஆகியவற்றிற்கு எதிராக அவர் வெற்றிகரமாக பிரச்சாரம் செய்தார்.
• ராஜா ராம் மோகன் ராய் பல வரலாற்றாசிரியர்களால் ‘வங்காள மறுமலர்ச்சியின் தந்தை’ என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். ராஜா ராம் மோகன் ராயின் முயற்சியால் சதி ஒழிப்புச் சட்டம், 1829-ஐ நிறைவேற்றி சதியை பெண்டிக் ஒழித்தார்.
