Reasoning Ability – IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017
This section was the easiest section out of all the other topics. The more the candidates have attempted in this section, the more the marks are. So we will have a short stint of the topics and the questions asked in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM in the reasoning section.
- The Puzzle and Seating arrangement questions were the ones that are asked in all the slots – It had changes in the numbers bu this was a definite topic and puzzle was mostly a floor based one. The seating arrangement questions were asked in a same one and one linear arrangement and circular arrangement was asked. The Square and rectangular arrangement were asked in a limited one, but mostly circular arrangement was asked.
- A mix of Alphabet , Alphanumeric and Number Series questions were asked. This dominated the reasoning section in most of the slots. The number of questions asked in all the sections ranged from 5 to 10 questions.
- Old Pattern Coding and decoding questions were asked and this topic was limited to certain slots in the IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam.
- Inequalities questions were also not asked in a greater number, when compared to the other topics this was the easy cake walk to score more marks.
- Order Ranking was also in a limited number and mostly 3-4 questions were asked, this topic dominated the Day 3 slots but were asked meagerly in most of the other day slots.
- Other Miscellaneous questions like Directions , Blood Relations and small puzzles were asked in little numbers and contributed to least percentage. This topics were easy and most of them would have attempted these type of questions.

English Language – IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017
This was the difficult section for the most of the candidates in general and this time too this was proved in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017. Mostly the questions have to be studied carefully before answering the questions because most of the topics except the reading comprehension was new to the exam scenario with small changes to the existing pattern of the exams.
- The Reading Comprehension had a simple topic with 5 questions from each set. The Questions were not direct ones and mostly and in-depth one like statements and arguments, analyzing the best statements out of the given ones.
- Day 3 slots had sentence rearrangement questions dominated the English section. Moreover the first two days slots didn’t have the sentence rearrangement (except for the last slot in the day 2). This was in the easy to moderate range.
- The next topic which was important in the last of the Exam was the Double Fillers, One slot had new pattern questions. Primarily 10 questions were asked from this topic. As said this was in the moderate range.
- Idioms and Phrases questions were asked which was also asked in some of the previous exams but this was different. The particular idioms phrases has to obtained for the asked questions and this was difficult because these types of questions are new to the arena of Exams as reading comprehension , cloze test , double fillers and sentence rearrangement questions were asked.
- Cloze Test, this topic was asked in very few slots because this was asked multiple times and this had various changes to the formats. It constituted for 5 questions (max) in this exam.
The 3rd day had different topics and those aspirants who have prepared for the Prelims exam would have got a big disappointment and astonishment as this was entirely different from the one that was asked in the other slots in the First two days. This followed for other slots also in the other days, so this section definitely tested the candidate of their preparations level and scoring from this section is a major blockade. This section might be the factor determing the fate of many candidates in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017.
Quantitative Aptitude – IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017
The quantitative Aptitude section was the easier topic when correlated to the other sections in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM. This section was not that easier in comparison to the reasoning section but definitely this will fetch more marks to the aspirants.
- Standard Format was followed which contained Data Interpretation questions , Missing number series, Simplification and Miscellaneous questions.
- The Data Interpretation questions were easy and this consist of 5 questions in total and majorly Table based Data Interpretation questions were asked. Averages, Ratio and simplification based questions constituted the quantitative aptitude section.
- The Missing Number series was the next easiest topic where the missing number has to be found from the series of numbers and mostly the sum and multiplication based concepts filled the number series.
- Miscellaneous section is the one section where candidates score less because each question may take more time when taken as a whole, but this time the topics asked in the questions were in the easier to moderate range and some of the questions were easier when compared to the others. Ratio & Proportions, Simple & Compound Interest, Averages, Time & Work , Train based problems, Boats and Streams topics were asked. As said some of the questions were easier and took less time, the candidates who have seen all the questions would have chose the easier ones.
- Lastly the Simplification questions which will etch marks to the candidates from this section was a cake walk for the aspirants. This was really easier and mostly all the aspirants would have attempted all the questions form this particular topic. Some intricate questions were also asked in this section and even those questions were easier to attend as those type of questions have been asked in previous exams.
