2. M K Stalin stakes claim to form government in Tamil Nadu

• met the Governor of Tamilnadu, Banwarilal Purohit and claimed to form government in Tamil Nadu.
• He will be taking oath as Chief Minister on 7 May at Raj Bhavan.

3. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan flags off the first supply of UCO based Biodiesel-blended Diesel

• Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remotely flagged off the first supply of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) based Biodiesel-blended Diesel.
• Central Government had initiated Expressions of Interest for “Procurement of Bio-diesel produced from Used Cooking Oil” on the World Biofuel Day on 10 August 2019.
• This initiative will result in economic benefits for the nation by increasing indigenous biodiesel supply, reducing imports, and generating rural employment.

Biodiesel

• Biodiesel is a form of fuel produced from plants or animals.

Biodiesel from Used Cooking Oil

• Used Cooking Oil-based biodiesel uses used cooking oil as the raw material to produce Biodiesel. In 2019, FSSAI had introduced RUCO (Repurpose Used Cooking Oil) sticker to enable the collection of used cooking oil.

Biodiesel blended Diesel

• The national policy of biofuel, 2018 has the objective of ethanol-blending of 20% and biodiesel-blending of 5% in biofuel by 2030.

• மத்திய பெட்ரோலியம் மற்றும் இயற்கை எரிவாயு அமைச்சர் தர்மேந்திர பிரதான் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெய் (UCO) அடிப்படையிலான பயோடீசல் கலந்த டீசலின் முதல் விநியோகத்தை தொடங்கிவைத்தார்.
• 10 ஆகஸ்ட் 2019, உலக உயிரி எரிபொருள் தினத்தன்று “பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெயிலிருந்து உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் பயோ-டீசல் கொள்முதல்”க்கான ஆர்வ வெளிப்பாடுகளை மத்திய அரசு வெளிப்படுத்தியது.
• இந்த முன்முயற்சி உள்நாட்டு பயோடீசல் விநியோகத்தை அதிகரிப்பதன் மூலமும், இறக்குமதியைக் குறைப்பதன் மூலமும், கிராமப்புற வேலைவாய்ப்பை உருவாக்குவதன் மூலமும் நாட்டிற்கு பொருளாதார நன்மைகளை ஏற்படுத்தும்.

பயோடீசல்

• பயோடீசல் என்பது தாவரங்கள் அல்லது விலங்குகளிலிருந்து உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் எரிபொருளாகும்.

பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெய் இருந்து பயோடீசல்

• பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெய் சார்ந்த பயோடீசல் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெயை பயோடீசல் உற்பத்திக்கு மூலப்பொருளாக பயன்படுத்துகிறது. 2019ஆம் ஆண்டில், பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெயை சேகரிப்பதை செயல்படுத்துவதற்காக ரூகோ (மறுநோக்கம் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சமையல் எண்ணெய்) ஸ்டிக்கரை FSSAI அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது.

பயோடீசல் கலந்த டீசல்

• உயிரி எரிபொருள் தேசிய கொள்கை, 2018, 2030ஆம் ஆண்டுக்குள் உயிரி எரிபொருளில் 20% எத்தனால் கலப்பு மற்றும் 5% பயோடீசல் கலப்பு செய்வதை நோக்கமாக கொண்டுள்ளது.

4. Madhya Pradesh launches Free Swastha Aahar Yojana for the corona patients

• Madhya Pradesh launched Free Swastha Aahar Yojana (Healthy Food Scheme) for the corona patients. This is a pilot project under which, patients will get nutritious food on time free of cost in 110 hospitals in Bhopal.

4. கரோனா நோயாளிகளுக்கு இலவச ஸ்வஸ்த ஆஹார் யோஜனா திட்டத்தை மத்தியப் பிரதேசம் தொடங்கியது

• மத்தியப் பிரதேசம் கரோனா நோயாளிகளுக்கான இலவச ஸ்வஸ்டா ஆஹார் யோஜனா (ஆரோக்கியமான உணவுத் திட்டம்) திட்டத்தை தொடங்கியது. இது போபாலில் உள்ள 110 மருத்துவமனைகளில் நோயாளிகளுக்கு இலவச சத்தான உணவு வழங்கும் முன்னோடித் திட்டம் ஆகும்.

6. RBI announces loan relief of Rs 50,000 crores liquidity to tide over Covid

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a Covid-19 healthcare package of Rs 50,000 crores for vaccine makers, medical equipment suppliers, hospitals and patients in need of funds. Loans, which can be given till 31 by banks will be classified as priority sector loans for three years.

6. ரிசர்வ் வங்கி கோவிட்-19ஐ சமாளிக்க ரூ.50,000 கோடி வழங்கப்படும் என அறிவித்துள்ளது

• தடுப்பூசி தயாரிப்பாளர்கள், மருத்துவ உபகரணங்கள் வழங்குபவர்கள், மருத்துவமனைகள் மற்றும் நிதி தேவைப்படும் நோயாளிகளுக்கு கோவிட்-19 சுகாதார தொகுப்பாக ரூ.50,000 கோடி வழங்கப்படும் என்று இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கி அறிவித்துள்ளது. 31 மார்ச் 2022 வரை வங்கிகள் வழங்கக்கூடிய கடன்கள் மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னுரிமைத் துறை கடன்களாக வகைப்படுத்தப்படும்.

7. Eight Asiatic lions test positive for COVID-19 for the first time in India

• Eight Asiatic lions at Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park have tested positive for Coronavirus.
• This is the first known case of the human infecting the cat family.

7. இந்தியாவில் முதல் முறையாக எட்டு ஆசிய சிங்கங்கள் கோவிட்-19ஆல் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன

• ஹைதராபாத் நேரு விலங்கியல் பூங்காவில் உள்ள எட்டு ஆசிய சிங்கங்கள் கொரோனா வைரஸால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
• இதுவே மனிதனிடமிருந்து பூனைக் குடும்பம் பாதிப்படையும் முதல் அறியப்பட்ட சம்பவமாகும்.

8. Six young girls from Assam develop Biodegradable ‘Moorhen Yoga mat’ from water hyacinth

• Six young girls from Assam associated with a collective called ‘Simang’ developed a biodegradable and compostable yoga mat from water hyacinth. It aims to create wealth from water hyacinth plants. This initiative was done by North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), which is an autonomous body under Department of Science & Technology (DST).
• The ‘Moorhen Yoga mat’ was named after Kam Sorai (Purple moorhen, a resident bird of Deepor Beel Wildlife sanctuary).
• The girls belong to Deepor Beel, a Ramsar Site and a bird wildlife sanctuary.

8. அஸ்ஸாமைச் சேர்ந்த ஆறு இளம் பெண்கள் ஆகாயத்தாமரையிலிருந்து மக்கும் ‘மூர்ஹென் யோகா பாய்‘ஐ உருவாக்கியுள்ளார்கள்

9. Chennai social activist Traffic Ramaswamy dies at the age of 87

• Traffic Ramaswamy was known for filing PILs in the Madras High Court against footpath encroachments, road widening, poster culture and traffic violations. He died at the age of 87.
• Ramaswamy was a founding member of the ‘Tamil Nadu Home Guard’. Home guard refers to volunteer tasked auxillary to Police.
• He earned the moniker “Traffic” after he began regulating the traffic in and around Chennai’s Parry’s Corner.

9. சென்னை சமூக ஆர்வலர் டிராஃபிக் ராமசாமி தனது 87வது வயதில் மரணமடைந்தார்

• டிராஃபிக் ராமசாமி நடைபாதை ஆக்கிரமிப்புகள், சாலை அகலப்படுத்துதல், சுவரொட்டி கலாச்சாரம் மற்றும் போக்குவரத்து விதிமீறல்களுக்கு எதிராக சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் பல பொது நல வழக்குகளை தாக்கல் செய்ததற்காக அறியப்பட்டார். அவர் தனது 87வது வயதில் மரணமடைந்தார்.
• ராமசாமி ‘தமிழ்நாடு ஊர்க்காவல் படை’இன் நிறுவன உறுப்பினராக இருந்தார். ஊர்க்காவல் படை என்பது காவல் துறையுடன் பணியாற்றும் தன்னார்வலர்களைக் குறிக்கும்.
• அவர் சென்னை பாரிமுனை மற்றும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள போக்குவரத்தை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தத் தொடங்கிய பிறகு “டிராஃபிக்” என்ற பெயரைப் பெற்றார்.

• V. Kalyanam was the Personal Secretary of Mahatma Gandhi from 1944 to 1948. He died at the age of 99.
