• International Invincible Gold Medal of 2021 waqs conferred to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. The award is presented by Maharshi Organisation.
• He has been recognised for his extraordinary commitment and outstanding service to humanity through his writings, social and illustrious public life.

2. Union Government increases the indigenous production of Covaxin under Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 Mission Covid Suraksha

• Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 Mission COVID Suraksha was announced by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology to accelerate the production of indigenous COVID vaccines.
• Union Government increased the indigenous production of Covaxin under Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 Mission Covid Suraksha. 
• This is being implemented by the Department of Biotechnology at BIRAC, New Delhi.

3. DRDO develops an Oxycare system to regulate oxygen in COVID-19 patients body

• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed an Oxycare system to regulate oxygen being administered to the patients based on the sensed values of oxygen saturation in the body.
• The Oxycare system developed by DRDO optimises the consumption of oxygen based on oxygen saturation in the body. It reduces the workload of hospital staff eliminating the need of routine measurement and manual adjustment of oxygen flow. It saves oxygen by 30 to 40 per cent and has an audio warning.

3. கோவிட்-19 நோயாளிகளின் உடலில் ஆக்ஸிஜனை ஒழுங்குபடுத்த DRDO ஒரு ஆக்ஸிகேர் அமைப்பை உருவாக்கியுள்ளது

4. Chhattisgarh launches virtual school to educate children affected by COVID

• In Chhattisgarh, a virtual school is being set up so that children’s education is not affected due to COVID-19 crisis. This virtual school will operate under the Chhattisgarh State Open School. All schools have been closed for the past several days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• In such circumstances, to impart online education to the children affected by COVID-19 crisis and on-going lockdown, Chhattisgarh Government has launched a virtual school using information technology. Students from class 9 to 12 will be able to take admission in this virtual school. From the admission process to the studies and examinations, all the work will be on virtual platform. Students will also have the facility to choose a mentor of their choice and get their doubts cleared online.

4. கோவிட் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு கல்வி கற்பிக்க சத்தீஸ்கர் அரசு மெய்நிகர் பள்ளியைத் தொடங்கியது

• சத்தீஸ்கரில், கோவிட்-19 நெருக்கடி காரணமாக குழந்தைகளின் கல்வி பாதிக்கப்படாமல் இருக்க ஒரு மெய்நிகர் பள்ளி அமைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த மெய்நிகர் பள்ளி சத்தீஸ்கர் மாநில திறந்தநிலை பள்ளியின் கீழ் செயல்படும். கோவிட்-19 தொற்றுநோய் காரணமாக அனைத்து பள்ளிகளும் கடந்த பல நாட்களாக மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.

5. Sikkim Statehood Day – 16 May

• Sikkim celebrated its statehood day on 16 May. It marks the day in 1975 when Sikkim became the 22^nd state of India.
• Sikkim was an Indian princely state ruled by Chogyal. Sikkim became a ‘protectorate’ of India after 1947 with defence, external affairs, and communications under the Government of India. The 35^th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1974, made Sikkim an ‘associate state’ of the Indian Union. For this purpose, a new Article 2-A and a new Schedule (10^th Schedule containing the terms and conditions of association) were inserted in the Indian Constitution.
• The 36^th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1975, made Sikkim the 22^nd state of the Indian Union. This constitutional amendment added a new article Article 371-F, to provide for special provisions with respect to the administration of Sikkim. It also repealed Article 2-A and the 10^th Schedule that were added by the 35^th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1974.

6. Nagaland conservationist, Nuklu Phom wins the prestigious “Whitley Awards 2021”

• Nagaland conservationist, Nuklu Phom, won the prestigious “Whitley Awards 2021”. Whitely Award is also known as Green Oscar. The award was presented by Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN). The award honours six grassroots conservationists along with Nuklu with Whitley
• Nuklu won the Biodiversity Award 2018. He is also a recipient of the Governor’s gold medal and popularly known as the ‘Amur falcon man of Nagaland’.

6. நாகாலாந்து பாதுகாவலர், நுக்லு போம் மதிப்புமிக்க “வைட்லி விருதுகள் 2021″ஐ வென்றார்

• நாகாலாந்து பாதுகாவலரான ஒய். நுக்லு போம், மதிப்புமிக்க “வைட்லி விருதுகள் 2021″ஐ வென்றார். வைட்லி விருது ‘கிரீன் ஆஸ்கார்’ என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த விருதை வைட்லி ஃபண்ட் ஃபார் நேச்சர் (WFN) வழங்குகிறது. இந்த விருது நுக்லுவுடன் சேர்த்து ஆறு அடிமட்ட பாதுகாவலர்களுக்கு வைட்லி விருது வழங்கி கௌரவிக்கிறது.

7. China launches Changasei 2C rocket into orbit

• China launched Changasei 2C rocket from the Xichang satellite launch centre.
• Changasei 2C is a Yaogon satellite, which is a series of reconnaissance satellites. Reconnaissance satellites are spy satellites that are used for military purposes.
• The satellite will be used for electromagnetic environment surveys and other related technical tests.

7. சீனா சாங்கசி 2சி ராக்கெட்டை சுற்றுப்பாதையில் செலுத்தியது

• ஜிசாங் செயற்கைக்கோள் ஏவுதளத்தில் இருந்து சாங்கசி 2சி ராக்கெட்டை சீனா விண்ணில் செலுத்தியது.
• சாங்காசி 2சி என்பது ஒரு யோகான் செயற்கைக்கோள் ஆகும். இச்செயற்கைக்கோள் யகூன் என்னும் உளவு செயற்கைக்கோள் தொடர்ச்சி ஆகும். உளவு செயற்கைக்கோள்கள் இராணுவ நோக்கங்களுக்காக பயன்படுத்தப்படும் செயற்கைக்கோள்கள் ஆகும்.

8. Care Ratings revises India’s GDP forecast to 9.2% for FY22

• Care Ratings agency revised India’s GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal year (2021–2022) to 2 per cent from 10.2 per cent. This is the fourth revision by the rating agency in its GDP growth forecast for FY (2021–22) since March 2021.

8. Care மதிப்பீடுகள் இந்தியாவின் மொத்த உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தி கணிப்பை நிதியாண்டு 2022க்கு 9.2% ஆக மாற்றியமைத்திருக்கிறது

9. International Day of Living Together in Peace – 16 May

• International Day of Living Together in Peace is celebrated globally on 16 May since December 2017. The day aims to uphold the desire to live and act together, united in differences and diversity, in order to build a sustainable world of peace, solidarity and harmony.
• The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared 16 May as the International Day of Living Together in Peace.

9. சர்வதேச சமாதானத்தோடு ஒன்றாக வாழும் தினம் – 16 மே

• சர்வதேச சமாதானத்தோடு ஒன்றாக வாழும் தினம் டிசம்பர் 2017 முதல் 16 மே அன்று உலகளவில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. சமாதானம், ஒற்றுமை மற்றும் நல்லிணக்கம் ஆகியவற்றின் நிலையான உலகைக் கட்டியெழுப்புவதற்காக, வேறுபாடுகள் மற்றும் பன்முகத்தன்மையில் ஒன்றிணைந்து வாழவும் செயல்படவும் வேண்டும் என்ற விருப்பத்தை நிலைநிறுத்துவதை இந்த நாள் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.

• The International Day of Light is celebrated on 16 May each year to commemorate the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicist and engineer, Theodore Maiman.

11. National Dengue Day – 16 May

• National Dengue Day is observed on 16 May every year. This day aims at spreading awareness about dengue, informing people about the disease, and encouraging them to take the necessary precautions to prevent it. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had decided 16 May to be observed as the National Dengue Day in India.
• Dengue is caused by Dengue virus and is transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito. Dengvaxia is the first dengue vaccine.

12. World Telecommunication and Information Society Day – 17 May

• World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is observed on 17 May every year. The day is celebrated with an aim to raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the internet can have to bridge the gap in society. The day was proclaimed in November 2006 by the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference in Antalya, Turkey.

• World Hypertension Day is observed annually on 17 May every year. The day was initiated to increase the awareness of hypertension and was designated by The World Hypertension League. The day was first inaugurated in May 2005.

• உலக உயர் இரத்த அழுத்தம் தினம் ஆண்டுதோறும் 17 மே அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. உயர் இரத்த அழுத்தம் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை அதிகரிக்க இந்த நாள் உலக உயர் இரத்த அழுத்த லீக்கால் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. இந்த நாள் முதன்முதலில் மே 2005இல் தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

14. Rafael Nadal beats Novak Djokovic to win his 10^th Italian Open title

• Rafael Nadal beat world number one Novak Djokovic to win his 10^th Italian Open title. Nadal has now won 10 or more titles at a single event for the fourth time, after Roland Garros (13), Barcelona (12) and Monte Carlo (11). He also equalled Djokovic’s record of 36 ATP Masters 1000 titles in his 12^th Italian open final.
• Polish Iga Swiatek won the Women’s Singles title of Italian Open 2021 by defeating Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic.

14. ரஃபேல் நடால் நோவக் ஜோகோவிக்கை தோற்கடித்து தனது 10வது இத்தாலிய ஓபன் பட்டத்தை வென்றார்
