LT GOV. CLEARS DELHI GOVT’S PROPOSAL TO RAISE PENSIONS:
Lt Governor Anil Baijal has cleared another proposal by the Delhi government to increase the monthly pensions of widows, senior citizens and the disabled by Rs 1,000 each.
The disability pension has been raised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 while the pension for widows and destitute women has been raised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500.Currently, 4.52 lakh people are covered under the scheme while the upper limit allowed is 5.3 lakhs. Recently, Mr. Baijal approved the Delhi government’s ambitious proposal of setting up mohalla clinics on the premises of government schools.
EAST MCD PRESENTS BUDGET, PROPOSES PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION:
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on passed a budget full of tax waivers, despite facing a ₨.2,243.25 crore deficit in 2017-18.The budget also focused on education and announced one model English-medium school in each ward, science clubs in all schools, recruitment of yoga teachers and an increase in the insurance cover for students.
TTD APPROVES BUDGET OF RS 2,858 CR FOR 2017-18:
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) approved its annual budget for 2017-18, projecting an estimated revenue of ₨.2,858.48 crore. For the second time in the history of the temple, the budget estimates reflected no change in the income received from the temple ‘hundi’, which is put at ₨.1,100 crore.
SACHIN TENDULKAR ADOPTS ANOTHER VILLAGE FOR TRANSFORMATION:
Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar is now set to adopt Donja in Osmanabad (Maharashtra) under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna. Earlier he adopt the village in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh has gone a huge transformation after Sachin Tendulkar decided to adopt it in 2014.
HIGHLIGHTS
Tendulkar has sanctioned over Rs 4 crore from his MPLAD fund for development of Donja. Tendulkar has emphasised on the issue of potable water since Osmanabad has been facing a drought over the last couple of years.
The school building which is over 70 years old will also be replaced with a new one.
UNESCOS NATURE FEST HELD AT GREAT HIMALAYAN NATION PARK (GNHP):
France based UNESCO organised the two-day Nature Fest at the World Heritage Site Great Himalayan National Park (GNHP) at Sairopa in Kullu district.
The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), is one of India’s national parks, is located in Kullu region in the state of Himachal Pradesh. GHNP was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites on June 2014.

MORE THAN 2,500 COINS TO BE DISPLAYED AT KERALA COIN FAIR:
The exhibition is collections of Justin Gilbert Lopez, who holds The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is gearing up to host an International Coin Fair at Kanakakunnu Palace.
Minister for Tourism, Cooperation and Devaswoms Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the exhibition.
The three-day exhibition will feature the collections of Justin Gilbert Lopez, who holds a Guinness world record for the largest coin collection. CoinLopez, who hails from Poovar, has a collection of coins from 310 countries, even those whose claims of statehood are currently under dispute.
WORLD’S FIRST FLYING CAR INTRODUCED IN UK FOR SALE:
A Slovakia-based company, AeroMobil unveiled flying car (PAL-V) prototype at SXSW Interactive. It gets up to 700 km of flight on a tank of regular gasoline. It’s scheduled to go on sale in 2017.
PAL-V has created the Liberty Sport and Liberty Pioneer, a pair of two-person three-wheelers capable of flying at speeds of up to 112mph. The Sport is the cheaper of the two, with the base model starting at $400,000. The Pioneer comes in at $600,000. Both versions use a retractable rotor blade and Pair of engines one that’s used for driving, the other for Flying with 817 miles range of fuel efficiency of 31mpg.
INDO-U.S. PACT ON EXCHANGE OF SCIENTISTS:
A new agreement for the exchange of scientists and engineers between India and the United States was concluded in New Delhi. Dr. Atma Ram, Director-General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, signed the agreement for India while the U.S. Ambassador, Mr. Chester Bowles, signed for the United States. On the Indian side there will be an emphasis on certain aspects of applied science to help in solving important national problems.
MICHAEL FLYNN RESIGNS: TRUMP’S NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER QUITS OVER RUSSIA LINKS
Michael Flynn, a former military general who helped to shape President Donald Trump’s foreign policy views, resigned as the National Security Adviser Mr. Flynn, in his resignation letter, admitted to giving incomplete information to the Vice-President on his phone calls with the Russian Ambassador to the U.S. while he was the NSA-designate.
AUSTRALIA BATSMAN ADAM VOGES HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET.
Adam Voges has announced that he is calling curtains on his international career. The 37-year-old bows out with the second highest Test average of all time behind Australian great Sir Donald Bradman. His 1,485 runs in exactly 20 matches have come at 61.87, ahead of South African Graeme Pollock (2,256 from 23 Tests at 60.97).
IRDAI SEEKS TO AMEND 16-YEAR OLD ACTUARY REGULATIONS:
Insurance regulator IRDAI has proposed changes in the 16-year old regulations regarding Appointed Actuaries by modifying framework for their appointment and functions. It will supersede the existing Regulations of 2000 and also amendments made thereon in 2013, for the purpose of the performance of his functions as appointed actuary.
IBBI INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS ON DRAFT REGULATIONS FOR VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION:
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has invited public comments on the Draft Regulations for Voluntary Liquidation. According to the comments on each provision of the draft regulations are invited by 8th March, 2017. The draft regulations are available on the Board’s website at www.ibbi.gov.in.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs had set-up four Working Groups to facilitate implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Based on these drafts, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Board) has notified by two regulations. They are.
(a) The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Persons) Regulations, 2016
(b) The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Liquidation Process) Regulations, 2016.

UNITED BANK TARGETS ₨1,150 CR. IN TEA SECTOR LOANS:
United Bank of India plans to increase its tea sector portfolio to about ₨.1,150 crore from the existing ₨.1,000 crore. MD & CEO Pawan Bajaj said that the bank had a strong presence in the sector in West Bengal, Assam, and Meghalaya, will increase by ₨.100 crore to ₨.150 crore from the tea sector in the south. The bank had also opened about 3 lakh accounts for plantation sector workers in the north in the demonetisation period.

Hockey star Sandeep Singh, a dreaded drag-flicker for India in his hockey team, has been offered an honorary doctorate by Punjab’s Desh Bhagat University. Sandeep has been in and out of the national team since the 2012 London Olympics.

Kush Bhagat, a second grade student from Hill Spring International School, was awarded the title of Candidate Master (CM) by World Chess Federation body. Under his coach, Balaji Guttula, he won U-7 Maharashtra State Championship 2016 title to becoming the World Schools under 7 Blitz champion in Sochi (Russia). He won 3 gold medals at the first ever Western Youth Chess Championship 2016 at Dubai in UAE, Grammy.
VETERAN JOURNALIST T V PARASURAM DIED AT 93:
Veteran journalist T V Parasuram, a former correspondent of the Press Trust of India, died in the US due to age-related illness, his family said. Parasuram, 93, passed away in his sleep in Bethesda.
