Odisha increased the pension amount of freedom fighters:

The Odisha government announced an increase in the monthly State Pension for freedom fighters. Chief Minister Naveen Pantaik gave his approval for the hike, urging the Finance Department to issue necessary notification.

Freedom fighters jailed for participating in the freedom struggle will now be entitled to Rs.10,000 pension per month, increasing from the present Rs.6, 000.

 


Assam declared as ‘disturbed area’:

The Centre has declared the entire State of Assam a “disturbed area” under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act for three more months, citing various violent activities by insurgent groups ULFA, NDFB and others.

The Home Ministry said that entire State, besides bordering areas of Meghalaya, have been declared “disturbed” under the AFSPA for three months with effect from May 3.

Rajkiran Rai G and R.A. Sankara Narayanan sworn in as MD and CEO of Union bank of India and Vijaya bank:

Rajkiran Rai G is executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce, will take over as the MD and CEO of Union Bank of India for a period of three years.

R.A. Sankara Narayanan, executive director of Bank of India, will assume the post of MD and CEO of Vijaya Bank.

Indian Government will meet the debt to GDP target by 2023

The Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das announced that government is confident that the 2023 goal of a debt-to- GDP ratio of 60% for the Union and State governments combined can be achieved thus meeting a key recommendation of the N.K. Singh-headed fiscal discipline panel.

 

 

 


Reliance, SAP launches ‘SARAL GST’ solution for taxpayers: 

Reliance Corporate IT Park (RCITPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with enterprise application software major SAP SE to launch ‘SARAL GST’ solution for taxpayers. 
    According to the subsidiary of Reliance Industries, the new offering will enable taxpayers to be GST compliant and smoothly access the government’s GST System, once GST is rolled out from July 1, 2017.

Azlan Shah Cup 2017: Great Britain beat Australia in final, India finish third

Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2017 concluded at Ipoh, Malaysia with Great Britain beating Australia 4-3 in the final to lift the trophy.

India finished third in the competition comprehensively beating New Zealand in the third-place match. Rupinder Singh scored a brace and SV Sunil and Talwinder Singh netted one each.
