Odisha govt announces package of Rs. 124 crores for farmers affected by pest attack:

The Odisha government has announced a package of 124 crore rupees for the farmers affected by pest attack in different areas of the state during this year’s Kharif season.

The decision in this regard was taken at the Agriculture Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar.

Indian Railways launches main arch on world’s highest bridge:

The Indian Railways has launched the main arch of the world’s highest bridge on the River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district which will provide direct connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.

The iconic bridge will soar 359 metres above the bed of the River Chenab and will be 30 metres higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The bridge forms the crucial link in the 111-km stretch between Katra and Banihal which is part of the Udhampur- Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Kashmir Railway project


 India’s Largest CDQ Facility at Tata Steel Kalinganagar:

Tata Steel has established India’s largest Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) facility, capable of handling 200 metric tonnes per hour, at its state-of-the-art steel plant at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur district of Odisha.


Telengana Government Unveils Food Processing Policy:

The Telangana government unveiled the food processing policy at the ongoing World Food India 2017 conference being held in New Delhi.

The policy is aimed at attracting investments to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore in the food processing sector in the state and also creating about 1.25 lakh direct jobs in the next five years.

India Pavilion Launched at Cop 23 in Bonn:

 The India Pavilion at COP 23 was inaugurated by Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan at Bonn in Germany. The Minister is leading the Indian delegation, which is participating in the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP-23) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) being held at the Bonn, Germany. The inauguration of India Pavilion was attended by the partner ministries, government departments, multi-lateral and bilateral partners, industry associations, Non-Government Organisations and Civil Society Organisations and others.

India and Bangladesh joint military combat exercise “Sampriti” begins in Meghalaya:

SAMPRITI 2017’, the seventh edition of Indo-Bangladesh joint military training exercise begun in Meghalaya.

The exercise will be held from 6th – 18th November 2017.The main Objective of this exercise is to enhance interoperability between army personnel of India and Bangladesh while carrying out joint counter-insurgency or counter-terrorism operations.

BANKING & BUSINESS

HSBC Bank pledges $100 billion of finance by 2025 to combat climate change:

 HSBC has pledged to provide $100 billion in financing and investment by 2025 to help combat climate change.

They promised $100billion of finance for low-carbon technology and sustainable development by 2025 as part its commitment to tackling climate change and other “green” goals.

HSBC said it will facilitate financial flows to help boost support for clean energy and lower carbon technologies.

Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia designated as Finance Secretary:

Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia has been designated as the new Finance Secretary.

The vacancy was caused following the superannuation of Ashok Lavasa last month. Adhia is a 1981 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre.


R K Kulshrestha assumes charges as GM, Southern Railway:

RK Kulshrestha took charge as General Manager, Southern Railway. Prior to this, he was General Manager, Northern Railway.


 Madhu Azad becomes Gurgaon’s first woman mayor:

 The Millennium City got its first woman mayor with Madhu Azad of the BJP winning the post.

Mohan Joshi honoured with Vishnudas Bhave award:

Renowned Indian film and television actor Mohan Joshi was honoured with the prestigious Vishnudas Bhave award for his contribution to the theatre. The award was presented to Joshi by veteran actor Jayant Sawarkar. The award is conferred with memory of Vishnudas Bhave, the founder of Marathi theatre. it comprises a trophy, a citation and a cash prize worth Rs 25,000.

India finish with 20 medals at Commonwealth Shooting Championships:

 India ended the Commonwealth Shooting Championships with a rich haul of 20 medals after Satyendra Singh won a gold and Sanjeev Rajput a silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.

The Indian squad won a total of six gold, seven silvers and seven bronze medals during the competition.


Shiv Kapur Clinches Panasonic Open Title:

Shiv Kapur clinched his first Asian Tour title in India, bagging the Panasonic Open by three strokes, after bringing home a card of four-under 68 in the fourth and final round at the Delhi Golf Club.


India’s Sharath Kamal & Sathiyan bag bronze in Belgium Open:

 India’s Achanta Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan won a bronze medal in doubles at the prestigious 2017 Challenge Belgium Open Table Tennis tournament.

International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict:

On 5 November 2001, the UN General Assembly declared 6 November of each year as the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict.
