World’s first International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics launched in Gujarat
The world’s first International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics was launched at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
The International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics (ICHF) will facilitate better management of bodies during emergencies such as disasters. It was inaugurated at the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU).
It is a joint venture of the Regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in India, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives and also Gujarat Forensic Science University.

Punjab Government Launched ‘i-Hariyali’ Mobile App
The Punjab government has launched a mobile application —‘i-Hariyali’.
The ‘i-Hariyali’ app, under ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’ can be downloaded from the app store for free.
The app aims to inspire people to plant more saplings to save the environment from pollution and the mobile application would enable the users to order free plant saplings.
The users can book a sapling of their choice, a maximum of 25 per person, from a nearby government nursery.

Four MoU signed under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme
The Ministry of Culture has announced that ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme of the Government of India is making good progress. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India.
Under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme, three MoUs have already been signed and six are at an advanced stage and 31 more Adarsh Monuments are enlisted for coverage under the scheme.
The schemes aims to involve public sector companies, private sector companies and corporate citizens/individuals to take up the responsibility for making our heritage and tourism more sustainable through development, operation and maintenance of world-class tourist infrastructure and amenities.
Gujarat launches wind-solar hybrid power policy
The Gujarat government has announced wind-solar hybrid power policy – 2018, aiming to make optimum utilisation of the land and grid.
The policy, which will have a coverage period of five years, provides encouragement to renewable power producers supplying to the grid as well as to those having captive use.
The policy is stating that the developer of an existing solar project will now be able to use the same land for setting up wind and solar power units. Also, it will allow them to use the common transmission line to evacuate the power.
The benefits of the new policy will be applicable for a period of 25 years or lifetime, whichever is earlier.
Gujarat currently generates over 5,500 MW of wind power and 1,600 MW of solar power.

Shillong Selected as the 100th Smart City
Shillong has been selected as the 100th city to receive funding under the Centre’s flagship Smart Cities Mission after evaluation of the proposal submitted by it.
Till now, 99 smart cities had been selected in four rounds of competition and with selection of Shillong 100 cities has been completed under the Smart Cities Mission.
Under the mission, the selected cities would take up various project, including ‘smart’ roads, rejuvenation of water bodies, building cycle tracks, walking paths, smart classrooms, skill development centres, upgradation of health facilities and pan-city projects like integrated command control centre.
Indian Army observes 2018 as ‘Year of Disabled Soldiers in Line of Duty’
The Indian Army is observing the year 2018 as the ‘Year of Disabled Soldiers in Line of Duty’ to honour soldiers who have been disabled in the line of duty while serving the nation and to celebrate the undying spirit of ‘Soldiering’.
The main aim of the observance is to alleviate the sufferings of the soldiers, who have done their duty with utmost dedication to the nation and have been disabled for life.
The Indian Army also plans to showcase the talent of the disabled soldiers by organising sports and physical activities, cultural events and their art exhibitions.
Health Minister Launched National Health Resource Repository
The Union ministry of health and family welfare has launched the National Health Resource Repository (NHRR).
It is the first ever registry in the country registry of authentic, standardised and updated geo-spatial data of all public and private healthcare. The Indian Space Research Organisation ( ) is the project technology partner for providing data security.
It will now be possible to provide comprehensive data on all private and public health establishments and other resources, including Railways, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), defence and petroleum healthcare establishments.
The health minister also released the National Health Profile (NHP)-2018, prepared by CBHI.
Telangana police launched ‘COP CONNECT’ mobile App
The Telangana police have launched a mobile-based messenger application dedicated to provide real time information to over 60,000 police officers across the State.
It was launched by the Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy.
The app has been developed based on police’s internal communication strategy, which will enable the entire workforce to pro-actively engage and pass real time information in seconds. The app is 100% confidential and the officers can share their best practices and achievements.
Vice President Receives the Book ‘Vedvigyan Alok’
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has received the book “Vedvigyan Alok” (Maharishi Aitareya Mahidas Praneet – Aitareya Brahmina ki Vaigyanik Vyakhya) authored by Acharya Agnivarat Naishthik.
The Book Vedvigyan Alok is the scriptural verse in Vedas’ prose.
Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Rani Rashmoni’ commissioned in Visakhapatnam
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has commissioned fast patrol vessel (FPV) ICGS Rani Rashmoni, in Visakhapatnam.
It was the fifth in the series of fast patrol vessels and it was constructed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited.
The 51 mtr ship named after famous legendary leader ‘Rani Rashmoni’ of Kolkata has been designed and built indigenously and is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment.
Haryana launches 7-Star Gram Panchayat Rainbow scheme
The Haryana government has decided to give star rankings to its panchayats on the basis of seven social parameters under the state’s 7-Star Gram Panchayat Rainbow scheme.
As many as 1,120 villages of the state have achieved the rankings under the scheme, launched in January this year. Ambala topped the star ranking with 407 stars followed by Gurugram with 199 stars and Karnal with 75 stars.
The panchayats will be judged on sex ratio, education, hygiene, environment preservation, governance and social participation. The selected villages will be honoured at an award ceremony to be held in Panchkula, Gurugram and Rohtak next month.

Inter-Governmental Ministerial meeting on anti-doping held in Colombo
The annual Asia and Oceania region intergovernmental ministerial meeting on anti-doping began in Colombo with representatives from 29 countries including India attending.
The 15th such annual gathering, is also being attended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to discuss important anti-doping issues that will help in the fight for clean sport.
The two-day meeting will discuss how to make the most of government engagement, ensure compliance with the world anti-doping code, support capacity building and a range of other topics.
It is chaired by Faiszer Musthapha, Sri Lanka’s Minister for Provincial Councils, Local Government and Sports.
The 14th Asia/Oceania Region Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport was in the city of Hangzhou, hosted by the government of China.

Yes Bank gets Sebi nod for custodian of securities business enhancing its market offerings
Yes Bank has received approval from market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for acting as custodian of securities.
The Custodian of securities is a licence granted by Sebi to eligible entities allowing them to offer custodial services to financial market participants including foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs).
This will complement the bank’s existing capital market offerings and enable it to play a larger role in channelising domestic and foreign investments into Indian financial market.
The bank will also be opening representative offices in London and Singapore as per recent approval from the Reserve Bank of India.
RBI tightens Liberalised Remittance Scheme(LRS) norms
The RBI has tightened norms for Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) by making quoting of permanent account number (PAN) mandatory even for transactions below USD 25,000.
Under the LRS, all resident individuals, including minors, are allowed to freely remit up to USD 2,50,000 per financial year for any permissible current or capital account transaction or a combination of both.
Individuals can avail of foreign exchange facility for the purposes within the limit of USD 2,50,000 only.

Ex-RBI Dy Governor R Gandhi joins Paytm as Advisor
One97 Communications, which runs, has appointed former RBI Deputy Governor Rama Subramaniam Gandhi as an advisor.
Gandhi was a member of the first Monetary Policy Committee. He has also been the head of two regional offices of the Reserve Bank and held a charge as the Director of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad.
Gandhi will bring his years of knowledge and experience on payment systems, regulations, compliance and corporate governance, the company said in a statement.
SBI MD appointed IDBI Bank chief for three months
The State Bank of India’s Managing Director B Sriram has been temporarily appointed as the chief of IDBI Bank for a period of three months.
Sriram will take charge as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IDBI Bank, whose existing chief MK Jain was recently appointed as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) deputy governor.
Sriram has been working as the MD (Corporate and Global Banking) in SBI since July 2014. He had been Managing Director of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur.

Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian Resigned
The Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian left the finance ministry because of “pressing family commitments” and will shift base to the US. It was announced by finance minister Arun Jaitley.
Subramanian took charge as the CEA on October 16, 2014 for a period of three years. In 2017, his term was extended for a year.

The word yoga originates from Yuja, a Sanskrit word which means, “to join or to unite”, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

June 21 has been designated as World Music Day, a day the world celebrates the magical gift of music.
The day is also known as Fete de la Musique after a music festival that began in France in 1982.
