Government e-Marketplace was announced as the winner of CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards 2021

  • Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was announced as the winner in the ‘Best Use of Digital Technology’ category at the CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards 2021 (CIPS Awards) by the London-based Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
  • GeM was also a finalist in two other categories —Best Initiative to Build a Diverse Supply Base and Public Procurement Project of the Year.

  • The first joint working group (JWG) meeting on coal and mines was held virtually between India and Australia.

  • The Telangana Government has signed an MoU with insurtech firm Wingsure to provide deep-tech-based personalised crop insurance products and advisory services to small, underserved farmers in the state.
  • Wingsure will collaborate with government agencies to develop a ground distribution strategy by leveraging its deep-tech platform.

Union Government sets up an asset management company for bad banks

  • The Union Government has established the India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL), an asset management company (AMC), that would operate with the National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) to clear up bad loans (RoC).
  • The India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL) has been set up with a paid-up capital of Rs. 80.5 lakhs and authorised capital of Rs. 50 crores.
  • The primary objectives of this company are to undertake all kinds of debt management, operational management, resolution advisory, support and consultancy services in relation to debt resolution and insolvency resolution.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) launched a campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

  • The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched a campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to promote pension and retirement planning.
  • PFRDA will observe 1 October as the National Pension System Diwas (NPS Diwas) to encourage every citizen to plan towards creating a financial cushion to ensure for oneself a financially sound future after retirement.

Abhishek Verma was elected to World Archery’s athletes’ committee

  • Abhishek Verma, a three-time World Cup gold medalist in compound archery, was elected to the World Archery’s athletes’ committee for a four-year term.
  • He is an Arjuna awardee and has won gold medals in the World Cups in Poland (2015) and Paris(2021). He also bagged the gold medal in the team event at the Shanghai World Cup in 2018.

Former Arunachal Pradesh Governor and Former Delhi Police Commissioner Yudhvir Singh Dadwal passed away

  • Former Delhi Police Commissioner and former Arunachal Pradesh Governor Yudhvir Singh Dadwalpassed away at 70.
  • The 1974-batch IPS officer became the Police Commissioner of Delhi in 2007 and was transferred to Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as its Director-General in 2010.After retiring from the services, he was also appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 2016.
