PROBLEMS BASED ON TRAINS-HOW TO SERIES

Hi Bankersdaily Aspirants,

Wake Up!Friends there is hardly 8 days for our exam.Friends be relaxed but it is equally important to practice daily & learn new concepts.Train your mind to solve the question with 100% Accuracy.Today we are going to look,Problems on Trains. Before that have a look on Basics of  problems on trains

BASICS OF TRAINS

INTRODUCTION:

Friends,In this article we are going to look Problems on Trains. This section is quite tricky but it can be solved if you are aware of the basics

1)Two trains start from two station A & B towards station B & A.They Met at a point and after 5 hours of their meeting they were 880 Km apart and after which they reach the destination in 25 hours & 36 hours respectively.Find the time taken by the slower train to travel the whole distance?

EXPLANATION

Given that,

Train from 2 Station reach their Destination in 25 hours & 36 hours respectively,

Their Speeds are inversely proportional to time=√(25/36)=5:6=11 (important part)

It is Specifies that after they meet they travel 880Km in 5 hours,

=880/11=80

Therefore the Speed of the fastest train=80*6=480/5=96km/hr

Speed of the Slowest train=80*5=400/5=80km/hr

Total Distance=96*25+80*36=5280 km

Time taken by the slowest train to reach the destination=5280/80=66 hours

2)Two Trains start from Station A at the same time and at the same direction. The Second train is 20% more efficient than first train.Third Train Starts exactly after half an hour from the Same station and travels to the same direction in which the two trains travel and it over takes 2 train exactly 40 minutes after over taking first train. What is the speed of the third train if the Speed of the first train is 50km/hr?

EXPLANATION

Given that,

The 2 Trains start from the same station and starts towards same direction

The Speed of the first train is given as 50 km/hr,

Then it would traveled 25 km in half an hour

The Speed of the Second train is given as 120% of A

=50*120/100=60 Km/hr

Then it would traveled 30 km in half an hour

Since we doesn’t know the speed of the third train let us consider it as S3

Given that it over takes in 40 minutes,

Therefore,

=30/(S3-60) – 25/(S3-50)=40/60

=30/(S3-60)-25/(s3-50)=2/3

Keep this equation as it don’t go on further simplification because it doesn’t actually simplify it will make tedious by taking you to the concept of quadratic equation.

So keep this equation and just apply the option in it and answer which satisfies the equation.

Options are:

1)60km/hr

2)80km/hr

3)90km/hr

1st let us try with 60km/hr

My equation is:

=30/(S3-60)-25/(s3-50)=2/3

=30/(60-60) – 25/(60-50)=2/3(our Equation doesn’t satisfy)

2nd Let us try with 80km/hr:

=30/(S3-60)-25/(s3-50)=2/3

=30/(80-60) – 25/(80-50)=2/3

=30/20-25/30=2/3

=3/2-5/6=2/3

=3*3/6-5/6=2/3

=9-5/6=2/3

=4/6=2/3

=2/3=2/3(My condition satisfies)

Therefore Speed of the Third Train is 80km/hr
