#.1.TYPE 1:

BASED ON INCREASE & DECREASE:

1)There were 35 employees in the start up company.If the number of employees increases by 7,the expense send for Refreshment increases by Rs.42 per day while the average expenditure per head diminishes by Rs.1.Find the Original expenditure for the Refreshment?

EXPLANATION

Let us Assume Average Expenditure be X initially

Therefore,the total Expenditure =35X

When 7 more Employees join the Company,total expenditure =35x+42(Given in the Question)

After this the expenditure decreases by Rs.1 for each employee

(35X+42)/(35+7)=X-1

(35X+42)/42=X-1

(35X+42)=42X-42

7X=84

X=12

Thus,the original expenditure for refreshment=35*12=Rs.420

BASED ON FINDING TOTAL NUMBERS:

1)The Average age of all the employees in the Start Up is 25 years.The Average age of Male Employee in the Start Up is 27 years & that of the Female Employee is 23 years.If the number of Female employee in the Start up is 32.Then Find the number of Male Employee in the Start Up?

EXPLANATION

Given that,

The number of Female employee in the Start up is 32 & the Average Age of the Female Employee is 23,Let the Individual age of the Female Employee be x

Therefore, 32*X/32=23

X=23

The Average age of all the Employee in the Start Up is 25

[(23*32)+(27*X)]/(32+X)=25

736+27X=25(32+X)

736+27X=25X+800

2X=64

X=32

Therefore the number of Male Employee in the StartUp = 32

PRACTICE THIS SUM:

1)In a Tutorial Centre the Average Age of Students studying for Class 12 exam is 22 years.The Average age of boys of the class is 26 years and that of the girls is 19 years.If the number of girls in the class is 16.Find the number of boys in the class?

BASED ON WRONG ASSUMPTION:

1)The average weight of 15 Employees was Calculated to be 52 kg and it was later discovered that one weight was misread as 21 kg instead of the correct one of 12 kg.The Correct average weight is?

EXPLANATION

Average Weight of 15 Employees =52 Kg

Therefore,the Correct Average weight:

Given Weight+(Correct Weight – Wrong Weight)/Total number of Employee

=52+(12-21)/15

=52-9/15

=52 – .6

=51.4 Kg
