• Kallar elephant corridor becomes the first corridor area to be declared private forest under Tamil Nadu Preservation of Private Forests Act, 1949. The Coimbatore District Collector S. Nagarajan has declared 79 hectares of private land in the Kallar elephant corridor area as private forest.
• With the declaration of the land as private forest, there will be regulations on the sale of these properties and permission has to be obtained for change in land use.

• The Jaccanaire-Hulikal Durgam corridor, popularly known as the Kallar corridor, is situated at the Nilgiri foothills near Mettupalayam.

2. கல்லாறு யானை வழித்தடம் தமிழ்நாடு தனியார் வனப் பாதுகாப்புச் சட்டம், 1949இன் கீழ் தனியார் வனமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட முதல் வழித்தடப் பகுதியாகிறது

• தமிழ்நாடு தனியார் வனப் பாதுகாப்புச் சட்டம், 1949இன் கீழ் தனியார் வனமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட முதல் வழித்தடப் பகுதியானது கல்லாறு யானை வழித்தடம். கல்லாறு யானை வழித்தடப் பகுதியில் 79 ஹெக்டேர் தனியார் நிலத்தை தனியார் காடாக கோயம்புத்தூர் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் எஸ். நாகராஜன் அறிவித்துள்ளார்.

3. Hybrid Multiply Face Masks had been developed which can be an alternative to N95 Masks

• Parisodhana Technologies Pvt. Ltd., supported partly by BIRAC and IKP Knowledge Park, under the Fast-Track COVID-19 fund, developed hybrid multiply face masks, SHG-95.
• N95 face masks have been considered more effective in reducing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, but its usage proved to be uncomfortable for many and are mostly unwashable.
• SHG-95 face masks provide high particulate (>90%) and bacterial filtration efficiency (>99%), high breathability and are prepared from purely hand weaved cotton contact materials. It consists of a special filtration layer.

3. கலப்பின மல்டிபிளை முககவசங்கள் N 95 முககவசங்களுக்கு மாற்றாக உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன

4. Cabinet approves Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif Crops for 2021–22

• The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Kharif crops (14 Kharif crops) for 2021-22. This is to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce.
• The Union Government announced an increase of MSP at a level of atleast 1.5 times in the budget 2018-19 of the All-India weighted average Cost of Production (CoP). The highest absolute increase in MSP over the previous year has been recommended for sesamum (Rs. 452 per quintal) followed by tur and urad (Rs. 300 per quintal each).

Minimum Support Prices (MSP)

• The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices(CACP) recommends MSP for 23 crops, including sugarcane. Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare announces the
• The CACP projects three kinds of production costs for every crop.
• They are:

1. A2 cost = All paid-out costs directly incurred by the farmer in cash and kind for seeds, fertilisers, labour, etc.,
2. A2 + FL cost = A2 + Value of unpaid family labour
3. C2 cost = A2 + FL + Rentals and interest forgone on owned land and fixed capital assets

• 2021–22ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான அனைத்து பட்டியலிடப்பட்ட காரிஃப் பயிர்களுக்கும் (14 காரிஃப் பயிர்கள்) குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலைகளை (MSP) உயர்த்த பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி தலைமையிலான பொருளாதார விவகாரங்களுக்கான அமைச்சரவைக் குழு ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது. இது விவசாயிகளின் விளைபொருட்களுக்கு நியாயமான விலையை உறுதி செய்யும்.
• 2018–19 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான பட்ஜெட்டில் அகில இந்திய அளவில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட சராசரி உற்பத்திச் செலவினத்தில் (CoP) குறைந்தபட்சம்5 மடங்கு குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலையை அதிகரிப்பதாக மத்திய அரசு அறிவித்தது. கடந்த ஆண்டை விட குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலையில் அதிகபட்ச அதிகரிப்பு சாமைக்கும் (குவிண்டாலுக்கு ரூ. 452)  அதைத் தொடர்ந்து துவரம் பருப்பு மற்றும் உளுந்து (தலா குவிண்டால் ஒன்றுக்கு ரூ. 300) ஆகியவற்றிற்கும் பரிந்துரைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலை (MSP)

• கரும்பு உள்ளிட்ட 23 பயிர்களுக்கு குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலை நிர்ணயம் செய்ய வேளாண் செலவுகள் மற்றும் விலை ஆணையம் (CACP) பரிந்துரைக்கிறது.  மத்திய வேளாண்மை மற்றும் விவசாயிகள் நல அமைச்சகம்  குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலையை அறிவிக்கிறது.
• ஒவ்வொரு பயிருக்கும் மூன்று வகையான உற்பத்திச் செலவை CACP முன்வைக்கிறது.
• அவை:

1. A2 செலவு = விதைகள், உரங்கள், உழைப்பு, முதலியவற்றிற்காக விவசாயி நேரடியாகச் செலவு செய்த அனைத்து செலவுகளும், ரொக்கமாகவும், பொருளாகவும்
2. A2 + FL செலவு = A2 + ஊதியமற்ற குடும்ப உழைப்பின் மதிப்பு
3. C2 செலவு = A2 + FL + சொந்தமான நிலம் மற்றும் நிலையான மூலதன சொத்துக்கள் மீதான வாடகை மற்றும் விட்டுப்போன வட்டி ஆகியவை

5. The first solar eclipse of the year will be visible across the northern hemisphere

• The solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon that occurs when the Moon is in between the Sun and the Earth. It casts a shadow on the Earth, fully or partially blocking the Sun’s light in some areas.
• This year solar eclipse will be an annular solar eclipse. An annular solar eclipse means that the Moon is far away from Earth, so it appears smaller in size than the Sun in the sky. In India, it will be visible only to people in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.
• Since the Sun is partially blocked by Moon, it will appear as a bright disk bordering a dark disk. This is also known as the “ring of fire”.

5. இந்த ஆண்டின் முதல் சூரிய கிரகணம் வடகோளகத்தில் தெரியும்

6. Paul and Mike, an Indian brand becomes the first Indian company to win silver at International Chocolate awards 2020-21

• Paul and Mike, an artisanal Kerala-based ‘bean to bar’ chocolate maker, has become the first Indian company to win a silver in the International Chocolate Awards 2020-21. It got the award for its ‘64 Percent Dark Sichuan Pepper and Orange Peel Vegan Chocolate’.
• Vikas Temani is the founder and business head of Paul and Mike, artisanal chocolates from Kerala.

• El Salvador becomes the first country in the world to adopt bitcoin as legal tender. President Nayib Bukele proposed the move as it will bring financial inclusion and boost trade and tourism in the country.

Bitcoin:

• Bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency. It is a virtual currency that is decentralised and protected by cryptographic encryption It uses Blockchain technology.

8. 31^st edition Indo-Thai CORPAT starts at the Andaman Sea

• 31^st edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy started in the Andaman Sea.
• INS Saryu of the Indian Navy and HTMS Krabi of Thailand along with Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both navies, are participating in the CORPAT.

CORPAT

• CORPAT is a bi-annual naval exercise of the Indo-Thailand navy conducted since 2005. It aims at keeping the Indian Ocean safe and secure for international trade.

Other Exercises:

• Maitree is a bilateral annual military exercise carried out by the Indo-Thailand army since 2006.
• SITMEX is a trilateral maritime exercise conducted by Singapore, India and Thailand navies.

கார்ப்பட் (CORPAT)

• கார்ப்பட் என்பது 2005ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் இந்தோ-தாய்லாந்து கடற்படைகளால் வருடத்தில் இரு முறை நடத்தப்படும் கடற்படை பயிற்சியாகும். இது இந்தியப் பெருங்கடலை சர்வதேச வர்த்தகத்திற்கு பாதுகாப்பானதாக வைத்திருப்பதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.

9. IISc, Bengaluru tops in research in the QS World University Rankings–2022

• Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analysts, released the 18^th edition of the World’s International University rankings, “QS World University Rankings-2022”. IISc, Bengaluru ranked number one in the world ranking for research.
• Three Indian Universities have achieved top-200 positions in the rankings. They are:

10. First War of Indian Independence

• 1857 Revolt is popularly known as the First war of Indian independence. 10 May 1857 marks the starting of the 1857 revolt. On 10 May 1857, the revolt began at Three sepoy regiments revolted, killed their officers, and released those who had been imprisoned. The next day (11 May 1857), they reached Delhi, murdered Europeans, and seized the city. The rebels proclaimed Bahadur Shah II as emperor.
• However, the siege didn’t sustain too long and the British captured Delhi again on 20 September 1857.
