Saudi ARAMCO, ADNOC Signed MoU for Refinery Project of Maharashtra:

Saudi Aramco and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and build an integrated refinery and petrochemicals complex at Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.

The project will be set up as a 50:50 joint partnership (50:50) between the consortium from India and Saudi Aramco (25%) & ADNOC (25%).

The MoU was signed by Saudi Aramco president and CEO Amin H. Nasser and UAE’s minister of state and Adnoc Group CEO Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber.

Mckinsey Global Institute says Gender inequality extremely high in work & politics in India:

Gender inequality in India is extremely high at the workplace and in terms of legal protection and political voice, according to a recent report by the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) for the Asia-Pacific region.
-
The report assessed inequality on the basis of a Gender Parity Score (GPS) that uses 15 indicators of gender equality in work and society. It ranks countries on scale of 0 (signifying inequality) to 1 (signifying parity).

India’s score was 0.30 in gender equality at work and 0.78 in legal protection and political voice.
Godikan village panchayat of Haryana passed “No Toilet, No Bride” resolution:
The Godikan village panchayat of Haryana has passed a ‘No Toilet No Bride’ resolution to ensure the safety and well-being of its womenfolk.
Godikan panchayat has been declared an Outdoor Defecation Free (ODF) panchayat already.
The Godikan village panchayat ‘No Toilet No Bride’ has set a precedent where now girls will be married off only in the families who have a toilet in their house.

PM nod to panel to lay down standards for metro rail systems:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a proposal for setting up a committee to lay down standards for metro rail systems in the country.

The committee will be headed by E Sreedharan, also known as the ‘Metro Man’. A retired Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer, Sreedharan has served as the managing director of Delhi Metro from 1995 to 2012.
Punjab government launched ‘Paani Bachao, Paise Kamao’ Scheme:
A campaign to motivate farmers to voluntarily adopt pro-farmer ‘Paani Bachao, Paise Kamao’ scheme for checking the depletion of groundwater in the district will be launched in Jalandhar, Punjab.

It has introduced the scheme in two clusters namely “Bambiwal” and “Nawajipur” of the district as pilot project in the state.

Under this project, 178 farmers from Bambiwal and 231 from Nawajipur would be motivated to adopt the scheme from surrounding villages. Under this scheme, farmers will get monetary benefit for less use of tubewell.

4th National Review and Consultation on Swachh Iconic Places:

The 4th National Review and Consultation on Swachh Iconic Places has begun in Hyderabad. To review the progress relating to maintenance and cleanliness of Iconic Places.

The two-day consultation and review was inaugurated by Akshay Rout, the Director General Special projects under the Ministry of Drinking Water Supply.

Ten new iconic sites, namely, Raghavendra Swamy Temple (Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh); Hazardwari Palace (Murshidabad, West Bengal); Brahma Sarovar Temple (Kurukshetra, Haryana); VidurKuti (Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh); Mana village (Chamoli, Uttarakhand); Pangong Lake (Leh-Ladakh, J&K); Nagvasuki Temple (Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh); ImaKeithal/market (Imphal, Manipur); Sabarimala Temple (Kerala); and Kanvashram (Uttarakhand) have been taken up under Phase III of the flagship project Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

UAE to hold first-ever ‘World Tolerance Summit’:

The United Arab of Emirates (UAE) will host a two-day “World Tolerance Summit” in November. With its theme, “Prospering from Pluralism: Embracing Diversity through Innovation and Collaboration”.

The International Institute for Tolerance, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, announced the launch from November 15-16 to coincide with the International Day of Tolerance.

Women across Saudi Arabia were legally allowed to drive for the first time since 1957.

Anti-doping sports conference held at Norway:

An anti-doping sports conference titled ‘Clean Sport=Fair Outcome?’ was held at Oslo to address the issue of doping menace.

The conference is a joint initiative of the World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB), Anti-Doping Norway and FairSport to propose a substantial agenda for action, enabling it to have an impact on the ongoing anti-doping reforms and policy framework.

Pakistan to launch observatory satellite:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the launch of Pakistan’s indigenously developed 285kg PakTES-1A observatory satellite in July.

Fitted with sensors and cameras, PakTES-1A will remain stationary 610km in space and its position relative to the sun will not change.

Known as the Remote Sensing Satellite (RSS) it can be used to study various features of Earth, determine mineral deposits, and depending on the kinds of sensors and gadgets fitted.

The navigation technology for the satellite was acquired from China in 2012.

Santosh Kumar Mohanty took charge as wholetime member (WTM) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a three-year tenure.

After the central government elevated Ananta Barua, a Sebi executive director (ED), as another WTM. This is the first time the markets regulator will have four fulltime members on the board.

The Bengaluru-based realty firm Sumadhura group has roped in MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricket captain, as its first brand ambassador to represent the brand in all their national campaigns in a multi-year engagement.

Archer Deepika Kumari Wins Gold at Salt Lake World Cup:

Archer Deepika Kumari won her first individual gold medal in six years at the Salt Lake World Cup following a 7-3 win over Germany’s Michelle Kroppen in the recurve final.

The win ensured Deepika will represent the country at the season-ending Archery World Cup Final in Samsun, Turkey.

In six appearances at the Archery World Cup, Deepika had come back with silver medals in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 but this time she finally got the elusive yellow metal.

Abhishek Verma had won an individual silver in the Compound category and also in part of the mixed team bronze winning side alongside Jyothi Surekha Vennam.
