IFFCO launches the world’s first nano liquid urea for farmers

  • Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has introduced the world’s first nano urea liquid for farmers across the world. It was introduced at the 50th IFFCO annual general body meeting.
  • The nano urea liquid has been found effective and efficient for plant nutrition which increases the production with improved nutritional quality.

CSC SPV launches an e-marketplace for agri services

  • The Common Services Centers (CSC) E-Governance India Limited launched an e-marketplace or portal (www.cscagri.in) for agri services to help farmers.
  • The Common Services Centers Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC SPV) is a special purpose vehicle under the Union Ministry of Electronics & IT that provides a host of electronic services to consumers through its common service centres.
  • Through the agri services portal, the farmers will be able to buy seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, cattle feed and other agri-input products.

OneWeb launches 36 LEO satellites from the Russian cosmodrome

  • OneWeb, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications operator co-owned by Bharti Global and the UK Government launched another batch of 36 satellites by Arianespace from the Vostochny cosmodrome in Russia.

China successfully launches cargo resupply spacecraft ‘Tianzhou-2’

  • China has successfully launched an automated cargo resupply spacecraft ‘Tianzhou-2’ to rendezvous with an orbiting module.
  • The ‘Tianzhou-2’ or ‘Heavenly Vessel’ in Chinese, blasted off through a Long March-7 Y3 rocket from the Wenchang Space Launch Centre on the southern island of Hainan in the South China Sea.

IIT Ropar develops “AmbiTAG” which is India’s first indigenous temperature data logger for the cold chain management

  • Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), Punjab, has developed a first-of-its-kind IoT device named “AmbiTag” that records real-time ambient temperature during the transportation of perishable products, vaccines, body organs and blood.
  • This information is particularly critical for vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccine, organs and blood transportation.

  • National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has commissioned the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) ‘Sajag’. The ship was constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
  • Sajag is the third in a series of five offshore patrol vessels indigenously designed under the ‘Make in India’

Rear Admiral IB Uthaiah takes over as the Admiral Superintendent of Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard

  • Rear Admiral IB Uthaiah took over as the Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard of Visakhapatnam. He replaced Rear Admiral Sreekumar Nair.
  • Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh assumed charge as the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition of the Indian Navy.
  • Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani assumed charge as the Chief of Materiel of the Indian Navy.

India’s Nagraj Adiga was elected as the Asia-Oceania representative in the International Association of Ultrarunners Congress

  • India’s Nagraj Adiga was elected as the Asia-Oceania representative in the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) Congress for 2021–25.
  • Nadeem Khan of Canada was elected as the President and Robert Boyce of Australia was elected vice-president of IAU. Hilary Walker of Great Britain has become General-Secretary of IAU.

Magma Fincorp appoints Adar Poonawalla as its Chairman

  • Magma Fincorp has appointed Adar Poonawalla as its Chairman as part of a management overhaul following the Poonawala-controlled Rising Sun Holdings acquiring a controlling stake in it.
  • It also appointed Abhay Bhutada as its Managing Director. Rising Sun invested Rs. 3,456 crores in the non-bank lender. Magma Fincorp will soon be rebranded as Poonawalla Group company.

Former SC judge Arun Kumar Mishra was appointed as the Chief of the National Human Rights Commission

  • Former Supreme Court judge Arun Kumar Mishra was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He replaced Justice Prafulla Chandra Pant.
  • He was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 25 October 1999.

TV Narendran was appointed as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry

  • Industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has elected TV Narendran as its new President for 2021–22. He takes over from Uday Kotak, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited.
  • He is presently working as a CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited.

  • Indian Boxer Sanjeet Kumar won the gold medal in the 91 kg weight category at the Asian Boxing Championships 2021 held in Dubai, UAE.
  • Pooja Rani won the gold medal in the 75 kg category. Six-time world champion MC Mary Kom, Lalbuatsaihi, and Anupama settled for silver medals as the Indian women’s team finished with 10 medals (1 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze) at the Asian Boxing Championship 2021.
