1. Union Minister Piyush Goyal chaired the first meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council

• Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal chaired the first meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council.
• The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade had constituted this Council to advise the Government on measures needed to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country. It will be chaired by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry.

2. Udhampur bagged top position for implementation of PMGSY for 2020-21

• Udhampur district (Jammu and Kashmir) had bagged the top position at the National level for successfully implementing the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during 2020-21.
• Udhampur district had received the top position for constructing roads of the maximum length of 49 km in 2020-21.
• The PMGSY is a programme launched by the Union government to provide connectivity to unconnected habitations as part of a poverty reduction strategy.

3. Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology inaugurated three new initiatives of NIXI

• Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Ajay Prakash Sawhney inaugurated three initiatives for the National Internet Exchange of India, NIXI. These initiatives are IP Guru, NIXI Academy, and NIXI-IP-INDEX.
• The IP Guru is a group to extend support to all the Indian entities who are finding it technically challenging to migrate and adopt the Internet Protocol version, IPv6.
• The NIXI Academy has been created to educate technical and non-technical people in India about technologies like IPv6, which will lead to better management of Internet resources in the country.
• The NIXI-IP-INDEX portal has been launched to showcase the IPv6 adoption rate in India and across the world.

• National Green Tribunal (NGT) has formed an eight-member National Task Force (NTF) to monitor remedial steps to improve the status of air quality.
• The NTF is to be headed by the Secretary Ministry of Environment and Forests.

5. Central Government has decided to simplify the process for re-issue of OCI cards

• Central Government has decided to simplify the process for the re-issue of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards.
• Currently, the OCI card is required to be re-issued each time a new passport is issued up to 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age.
• Now, according to the changes, a person who has got registrated as an OCI cardholder before attaining the age of 20 years, he will have to get the OCI card re-issued only once when a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age. If a person has obtained registration as an OCI cardholder after attaining the age of 20 years, there will be no requirement of re-issue of OCI card.

9. Former Indian hockey player Balbir Singh Junior passed away at 88

• Balbir Singh Junior was a member of the silver medal-winning 1958 Asian Games Indian hockey team. He passed away at the age of 88. In 1962, he joined the Army as an emergency commissioned officer.
