1. Megalithic full-length sword was unearthed at Mayiladumparai excavation site

  • A Megalithic full-length sword was unearthed at Mayiladumparai in Krishnagiri district.
  • This is the first time the Department of Archaeology has unearthed a full-length sword with a handle in Tamil Nadu. The length of the sword is 60 cm.

2. Reserve Bank of India introduces the RBI Retail Direct facility to facilitate investment in Government Securities by individual investors

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced the RBI Retail Direct facility. This is a one-stop solution to facilitate investment in Government Securities (G-Sec) by individual investors. Under this facility, retail investors will have the facility to open and maintain the Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) Account with RBI.

4. India’s largest floating solar plant installation to date was commissioned in Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant

  • National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant, Visakhapatnam, has commissioned a 10 MW floating solar plant, which is part of the 25 MW plant. It is India’s largest floating solar installation to date.
