TRICKS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS ON DATA INTERPRETATION-HOW TO SERIES

Hi Bankersdaily Aspirants,

Friends we are here & Preparing for the Bank Exams keeping IBPS Exams in mind. This time IBPS has changed the Pattern of the Exam,in Aptitude Section we have only Data Interpretation Part.Aspirants who had appeared for the SBI PO Exams may come across with this Pattern.

As you all know DI consists of 5 Question in each Set.DI is the most important Part & it is the Scoring Section,Aspirants there is some of the technique to be followed while attempting DI.Let us see what are the Techniques involved in it?

TECHNIQUES TO KNOW BEFORE ATTEMPTING DI:

1)Mind Calculation:

Friends,as the name itself says we want to interpret the data given, the data will be given in the DI itself,we just want to find the solution by just solving the DI.Avoid using Paper and Pen for all calculation,Just try to solve in mind itself.

2)Write Clearly:

If you solve the Question in DI write it Clearly in the Paper because the questions in a set may be related to one another and the data obtained from the previous question may be needed to answer the forth coming question. So write clearly whatever you write in a Paper in a manner you can Reuse the data in order to reduce the time

3)Use Approximation Value:

If you are going to find the average of 5 number such as 76,78,79,75,72 then don’t just calculate average instead we can say the average of the number also ranges above 75.In DI Sometimes we doesn’t need to calculate exact value .You want to choose the answer approximately.Friends for Approximate Calculation you should practice to practice your mind, for that play a game with your friend by asking questions like 67*87 and calculate the answer in mind itself.

4)Solve Question in Order as they Appear in the Question:

Solve the Question in the same Sequence asked in the Question Paper.Because the answer or data obtained by solving 1st question may be required while solving the next question. So attend the question in the same sequence.

5)Figure out the Answer by just looking the diagram:

Friends, from school we had written the solution of the problem step by step but for competitive exams we shouldn’t do that,we should find the answer in a single step or else we should calculate the answer in Mind itself.Because, when you repeat the question in the Paper then your Precious time will be wasted. So,Analyse the diagram and Calculate in single step.

6)Write down the Correct Data from the Diagram:

The Data are given in the format of Charts such as Line,Pie,Bar,Graph….and sometimes in table too & nowadays there is 2 charts for a single set. When you take the data from DI,just Place your finger in the screen and write down the data correctly because we may calculate correctly by using wrong data.

7)Topics to know:

  1. Questions in DI is mostly from Average,Percentage. When a data is given & asked to find the average 1089+1056+1045+1056+1038,

We usually do=1089+1056+1045+1073+1038/5

But instead you can calculate,1000(89+56+45+73+38)/5

=1000(301/5)

=1000(60.2)

=1060.2.

2.When we are asked to find 95% of 123350(Percentage)

We usually do,123350*(95/100)=117182.5 which is tedious

Instead you can calculate,

100%=123350

10%=12335

5%=12335/2=6167.5

1%=1233.5

Here we are asked to find 95% which we may write as (100-5)%

=123350-6167.5=117182.5

3.You should know

Squares from (1-30) & Cubes from(1-20)
