  • Odisha government is all set to roll out new its – ‘Mo Bus’ services in the capital city from tomorrow ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup.

  • Delhi’s shiny new Signature Bridge was inaugurated after several missed deadlines. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the bridge and it will be open to public.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate several projects in Varanasi and also on the same day, Prime Minister will also inaugurate two National Highways projects and three sewage infrastructure projects.

  • Bihar government has approved a proposal to pay Rs 25,000 to every girl graduating in 2018 and onwards.This decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting yesterday which was chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

  • The Union cabinet has approved setting up of ‘Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh’.

  • The 25th edition of SIMBEX starts from Nov 10-21 off Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.SIMBEX 2018 will be the largest edition since 1994 in terms of scale and complexity.

  • Three new artillery guns and equipment, including the powerful K9 Vajra and M777 howitzers, were inducted into the Indian Army at the Deolali artillery centre in Nashik.

  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu embarked on a three-day visit to France.He will be representing India at the Paris Peace Forum being held to commemorate the centenary of the end to the First World War.

  • The Union Cabinet has approved strategic sale of government stake in Dredging Corporation of India to consortium of four ports.

  • The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan met UAE Minister for Human Resource Nasser Bin Thani Juma Al Hamli in Dubai.

  • INS Rana of the Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam under the Eastern Naval Command is on deployment to the South East Asia and arrived at the port of Surabaya to participate in the inaugural edition of Indian Navy – Indonesian Navy Bilateral ExerciseSamudra Shakti’ scheduled from 12  to 18 Nov 18.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated an inland port in Varanasi on the Ganga River.The multi-modal waterways terminal will allow the navigation of large vessels starting on the river between the holy city Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and and Haldia in West Bengal.

  • Power Minister Shri R K Singh inaugurates INSPIRE 2018 and gives away awards to the winners of the #InnovateToINSPIRE challenge.

  • The Ministry of science and technology has instituted a new prize for innovative cooling technologies that could reduce the climate impact of Residential Air Conditioning (RAC) at least by five times.

  • India and Morocco have signed an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.The agreement will strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance effectiveness and provide a broad legal framework for prevention, investigation and prosecution of crimes as well as in tracing, restraint and confiscation of funds meant to finance terrorist acts.


INTERNATIONAL

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved signing and ratifying the Extradition Agreement between India and Morocco.
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Italy for training and education in the fields of Labour and Employment.

  • The 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2018 will be held in Goa from 20th to 28th November, 2018. 49th edition of the festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries which reflects diversity of taste.
  • India and South Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in sports in New Delhi.Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea Do Jong-hwan signed the MoU.

  • Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities, 2018” is being organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment here during 9-11 November, 2018.

  • The world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) news anchor made “his” debut at the ongoing fifth World Internet Conference in east China’s Zhejiang Province.

  • Finnish mobile telecom network maker Nokia and Indian IT services firm Infosys have formed an alliance to develop solutions powered by new-age technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

  • The 33rd edition of the ASEAN Summit began in Singapore.The Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong is the Chairman of the Summit, which will continue till 15th November along with other related summits like East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit, (RCEP) and ASEAN plus summits.

  • The third edition of the FinTech Festival kicks off in Singapore alongside the ASEAN summit. It will begin with the three-day Fintech Conference.

  • Amnesty International has withdrawn a prestigious human rights award from Myanmar Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, accusing her of perpetuating human rights abuses by not speaking out about violence against the Rohingya Muslim minority.

  • Palau bans reef toxic sunscreen by 2020 in an attempt to protect its coral reefs after the president of the country signed a bill into law. The president of Palau, Tommy Remengesau Jr. signed The Responsible Tourism Education Act of 2018.

  • A new statue commemorating the role of Indian soldiers in World War One was unveiled in France to mark Armistice Day when the war ended in 1918.

  • The world’s largest supercomputer designed to work in the same way as the human brain has been switched on for the first time.


BANKING & ECONOMY

  • The Centre is infusing Rs 3,054 crore into Allahabad Bank as an investment during the current fiscal.

  • The Indian economy will expand 7.4% in 2018, but the growth rate will slow down to 7.3% in the next year as domestic demand tapers on higher borrowing cost due to rising interest rates, according to Moody’s Investors Service .

  • The Reserve Bank has liberalised the norms governing foreign borrowings for infrastructure creation “in consultation with the Government”.

  • Arunima Sinha, the Indian mountaineer who became the world’s first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest in 2013, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by a prestigious UK university for her inspirational achievements.

  • Jawahar Lal Sarin, president of the Alliance franaise de Delhi’s governing body, was presented with the Chevalier de la Lgion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian honour.

  • The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation programme recognizes the efforts of private individuals and organizations that have successfully conserved structures and buildings of heritage value in the region.

  • The prestigious Munin Barkotoki Literary Award 2018 in Assam has been given to young writer-critic Dr Debabhuson Borah for his book on literary criticism titled ‘Nirbochon’.

  • The China Open Masters Badminton tournament began in Fuzhou. The tournament will continue upto 11th of this month. The star shuttlers, Kidambi Srikanth and P.V. Sindhu will lead the Indian contingent.

  • Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary set the junior world record by winning the 10m air pistol mixed team gold medal in the 11th Asian Airgun Championships.
  • Star Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has touched a new high in his career by achieving the number one rank in the world in the 65kg category.
  • Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won the Brazilian Grand Prix after Red Bull’s Max Verstappen lost the lead in a collision with backmarker Esteban Ocon (Force India).

RANKING

  • According to the US-based organisation, National bureau of economic research (NBER), Bangalore tops the index for most congested city, and Mumbai in the second position, while Pune follows in the seventh place. The report was titled ‘Mobility and Congestion in Urban India’.
  • According to a new travel safety index, Iceland topped the charts with the lowest risk of a natural disaster as well as crime rates.UAE which is home to one of the most popular holiday destinations, Dubai, was ranked second.

  • The Union Fertilizer & Chemicals, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar has passed away.
  • The distinguished economist Thirukodikaval Nilakanta Srinivasan, better known as Prof TN Srinivasan, passed away.
  • The Comics legend Stan Lee has passed away. Stan Lee was often cited as an inspiration by writers and artists alike.
